This is emblematic of a larger issue of viewing everything through a racial lens and where people, white or black, view Latinos as trying to prove themselves to be accepted among white people. I've experienced/seen racism from woke/progressive people in a similar way as below.

I've been called a race traitor and a coconut (which admittedly is funny) for reporting the facts at BLM riots and the border. I know I'll never be white. I don't go out there for white people's approval. I go out there to report what's happening. That's it.
I'm proud of my Mexican heritage but I don't use it as a crutch to try to get ahead. I let my work speak for itself. Who cares if I'm Hispanic? As long as I report accurately, which I always strive to do, then that's all that should matter.
Tying everything through one or a few attributes you happen to be born as/with is so tiresome. But some people, as shown above, has to view every action through that one or two lenses. Idk, it's just all so boring and laugh-worthy if it wasn't so sad.
