@KelseyMPH So. True story. I was an intubated, “unconscious”, ICU patient. And while I didn’t remember the exact words spoken to me while I was “unconscious”, I did (and still do) remember the intention and feeling behind words spoken to me. I was very scared and quite honesty delirious. /2
@KelseyMPH So when people were loud in the ICU, sometimes random words and feelings would send my (un)conscious to strange places and dreams. BUT when the people around me spoke with kindness and caring, the intentionality behind those words made me feel safe. /3
@KelseyMPH So, PLEASE keep doing what you are doing. Your presence and words help your patients feel safer, calmer, more secure, and quite homestly cares for. Even if they can’t thank you. I THANK YOU for them.
