Thank you so much for all your support of my Etsy! I’ve been so afraid since losing my last job and deciding to pursue my writing/activism full time that I would be destitute. I spent a huge amount of time setting up the Etsy for the big relaunch, and I couldn’t be happier!
Calculating it for a theoretical 40 hours a week, I still haven’t made a living wage this week from the Etsy... but! I made more than I’ve made at jobs in the past, and without discrimination or breaking my mind and body! I’m so relieved, genuinely.
I’ve been so afraid I would have to go get a job that would exacerbate my disabilities and chronic illnesses... and being able to avoid that has literally improved my life more than I could have imagined. Thank you so so much for helping me make this possible. 😭
Anyway, preorder Pride fabrics are up for ONE MORE HOUR ONLY, and I also will donate to charity for each mask purchased!

Bisexual exclusionism from the queer community just baffles me. By the numbers, 60%+ of the queer community is bi.
Bisexuality was never an exclusive term of trans or nonbinary people. That myth was literally TERF propaganda to try to create infighting and politicize trans people even more.
There are no trans exclusive identities, only transphobic people.

Is it human nature or American culture that causes us to only react to improve systems after a very visible disaster?
Doing research into the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire and the reforms it inspired. The garment working women of New York City had been protesting and Unionizing but no one noticed until nearly 200 people died gruesomely in public.
Also how Frances Perkins got her start organizing women in New York garment factories, and was hugely influential in getting the New Deal passed as the first woman secretary of labor.

Gotta go see my mom and maternal grandmother tomorrow for Mother’s Day... we were going to go on a hike, which wouldn’t be bad, but now it looks like it’s going to rain all day so instead we’ll have to sit inside while they grill me about my life 🙃
By, “grill me” I mean it. My mother now calls me and my partner by “they” pronouns constantly, my grandmother deadnames me, and I can’t bring up either thing without hostility.
Also they don’t know I left my job bc that would be a cataclysm
I don’t need any more lectures on how irresponsible it is to transition or to actually take care of my disabilities... that they don’t believe in.
Anyway sorry for bitching but I am. Anxious.

What level of burnout is it when you’re so constantly emotionally exhausted that you even avoid talking to people whose company you deeply enjoy?
I know we’re all making jokes to cope but, we, as a society, have done nothing yet to address both our collective and individual traumas from this time, and I have no idea how that will impact us or society at large.
I wish I had something uplifting to say but I’m afraid.
I can’t be the only one who literally can’t think further than a few months into the future without panicking, right? I can’t be the only one actively avoiding thinking about what comes next.

“Everyone is trans now!”
The same number of people are trans as have always been.
What is changing is that more and more trans people are able to access our communities and resources to help us live longer, happier and more visible lives.
This is ALSO why the argument of “turning someone trans” isn’t true. It’s not possible to turn someone trans. However, it is possible to educate people so that more people can realize they’re trans, and be healthier and happier people overall.
I’ve been accused of being a “trans cult leader” because so many people around me have realized their trans ness.
I now see that for what it is — that I am good enough at describing and explaining my life experience and knowledge to others that it helps them realize themselves.

Getting tattoos goes like:
1st: I have thought about this for years and I finally got the courage to go for it.
2nd: I just think it’s neat, okay?
3rd: Lol it was on the wall of the parlor and I dared my artist to put it on me
4th: Honestly don’t even remember this one
5th: memes
From personal experience: my first tattoo is a tiny image of Einkorn Wheat, one of the oldest domesticated grains still in use. It makes me feel connected to the whole of humanity. It also references a line of poetry Vincent Van Gogh wrote to his brother in a letter.
The line roughly translates to, “wheat is wheat, even if it’s mistaken for grass at the beginning”, and speaks to overcoming underestimations of my character.
My second tattoo is an anatomical drawing of a little brown bat bc it’s awesome and one of my favorite species.
