The padawan who escapes at the beginning of the first episode of "The Bad Batch" is Kanan Jarrus, right?
The second Depa Bilaba called him "Caleb" I knew that's who it was. I don't know if it's supposed to be a secret, but he can't be anyone else. First, Kanan's real name was Caleb Dume. Second, all the cartoons are connected. "Clone Wars" to "Rebels," now to "The Bad Batch."
Anyway, "The Bad Batch" is great so far. The second episode was a bit conventional and probably more in keeping with the series (and its predecessors). But the pilot was really well done. Excellent writing and pacing. A couple of the twists were predictable, but executed well.
They did retread over some old territory in the first two episodes, and I hope they don't keep doing that. But it makes sense to integrate the series into the established continuity and then branch out.
I think Omega might divide fans. She has a bit of a Baby Yoda vibe, except she talks. Cute kids are hit and miss. But I found her tolerable, so I have no complaints on that score.
Nearly every music cue in "The Force Awakens from Its Nap," the "Simpsons" Star Wars Day short, was taken from the prequels. That surprised me. Jar Jar's and Anakin's themes, "Battle of the Heroes," the invasion of Naboo. Whoever chose the music must be a prequel fan. I approve.
Getting back to Kanan Jarrus, I don't remember him saying that Depa Bilaba was his master. But it's been a while since I watched "Rebels."
