It felt @alivelshi was almost going to call them #FakeRepublicans this morning, during one of his typical righteous rants. I hope he does. Just think of the questions & narratives that those two simple words enable? What other two words do the same (across the aisle)?

It was the sudden surge of success by the Trumpist zealots who seized the Republican label and party that made staying in the party untenable for them. They weren’t driven out by factional ideologues. They were driven out by ruthless, power-hungry

@AliVelshi @RadioFreeTom @Timodc @JRubinBlogger I was one of the first to say “stop calling them Trumpists; they are REPUBLICANS,” because they were still relying on deep seated tendencies toward greed and racism endemic to their party. But those tendencies are not what drove their success in post-Reagan years.
@AliVelshi @RadioFreeTom @Timodc @JRubinBlogger It was a set of beliefs they’d been cobbling together for 4 generations, at least. The #FakeRepublicans can only babble trite phrases and cliches about those beliefs. They have no idea what the “debates” behind them were ever about, nor do they care.
