I can understand the US desperation re. China's influence in Africa. Actually China Isn't the biggest investor in Africa. It's the 5th behind US, Britain, France and Netherlands. But China truly wants peace and prosperity for Africa. China has set up 26 Agricultural Demonstration 
2/ Centres to teach the locals the farming know how with a view to help Africa to achieve food independence. China has reckoned that with the current arable land combined with some know-how, Africa should be able to provide food for two to three times the African population.
3/China teaches soil improvement, seed selection, irrigation techniques etc.

4/ Of course not. At one time, aiming to achieve food independence was considered a declaration of war towards the USA.
To rival China's influence, the West must truly want Africa to do well. Promoting LGBTQ rights in Africa and giving the Africans GMO food is not helpful...
