"Did you vote Tory? This is what you've got coming up -
1/12
1) Photo ID to vote in general elections.
But isn't that fair, you say? Well no, it isn't. First voter ID fraud is almost non-existent. Last time there was just ONE conviction and one warning issued for ID fraud.
2/12
So why are the government so keen? Simple, it's a highly effective form of voter suppression. Around a quarter of voters do not have either a passport or driving licence. In trials hundreds of voters have been turned away from polling stations.
3/12
2) Changing the constituency boundaries. This will advantage the Conservatives. Do you think they'd do it otherwise?
4/12
3) Scrapping the first and second choice system used in voting for regional mayors and using the undemocratic FPTP system instead. Why? Again, it advantages Tory candidates and severely disadvantages the Lib Dems and Greens. It splits the Labour vote.
5/12
4) Accelerate the privatisation of the NHS. Don't take my word for it, listen to doctors themselves.
6/12
Every Doctor UK - "Outsourcing damages the sustainability of the NHS & leaves us vulnerable to cost increases by private firms. We must halt & reverse #NHSprivatisation, as we made clear to MPs last week."
7/12
Prof Kailash Chand, BMA Hon VP - "The @BorisJohnson ‘ s legislation for reform of the NHS in England, to be introduced next week is an obituary for the NHS.
The NHS doesn’t need another wave of commercialisation & market-based theories of TORIES!
The envy of the world,
8/12
‘The NHS’needs saving.
STAND & OPPOSE!"
5) Prevent the government being challenged in the courts. You can see why they want to do this when their corruption is exposed through legal challenges.
9/12
6) Fighting continual "culture wars". The Tories under Johnson have given up any pretence of an intellectual argument for their policies and are simply a populist movement. Populism requires enemies to blame and attack - the EU, "woke" people, immigrants, etc.
10/12
They gain and hold power through division. They utilise the deeply undemocratic FPTP system, knowing they only need fewer than 30% of the electorate to win total control. (In 2019 they got 29.36% of eligible voters).
11/12
I'm sure there are many more horrors in store in the Queen's Speech. Horrors which many Tory voters would oppose in a blind policies test. Next time please think more carefully before voting."
