Hazrat Umar (RA) was the first Muslim ruler to conquer Bait-ul-Muqadas (Jerusalem) in 637 AD from the Byzantine Empire.

The army of Muslim Caliphate was commanded by Hazrat Abu Ubaidah ibne Al-Jarrah (RA) during this conquest of Bait-ul-Muqadas.

Jerusalem was captured for the first time by Hazart Abu Ubaidah ibne Jarrah (RA) in 636 CE, during the reign of Hazrat Umar (RA). It was captured back by Christian Crusaders in 1099 CE during the 1st Crusade. Salahuddin recaptured it in 1187. Britsh Empire took it back in 1917.

British Empire gave the land of Jerusalem to the Jews and it's still with them.
