Netanyahu’s rival @gidonsaar hired Lincoln Project founders Steve Schmidt, Rick Wilson, Stuart Stevens and Reed Galen in his effort to unseat the prime minister in the March election, @amit_segal reports.
Spoke to a source close to the Sa’ar campaign who confirmed the report.
Netanyahu’s guy in this campaign is Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla. If he manages to get Israel vaccinated ahead of Election Day, his rivals can spend as much money they want on strategists and attack ads and still fall short.
Netanyahu, alongside Sec. Mnuchin: “American democracy has always inspired me. Lawlessness and violence are the opposite of the values we know Americans and Israelis cherish. The amperage of the Capitol yesterday was a disgraceful act and it must be vigorously condemned.”
Mnuchin in Jerusalem: “The violence that occurred last night at the Capitol in Washington DC was completely unacceptable. These actions are unacceptable and must stop... Now is the time for our nation to come together as one and to respect the democratic process in the U.S.”

Several participants tell me via text they were caught by surprise that the president is not coming out. Only admin official that attended was Treasury Secretary Mnuchin, who stopped by for a few minutes to chat.
This is indeed a dramatic development— Likud MK Gideon Sa'ar, who ran against Bibi last year, is leaving Likud and forming a new right-wing party jpost.com/breaking-news/…
In a prime time address, aired on live TV, @gidonsaar says the current government has failed the Israeli public with its handling of Covid and therefore he sees himself as an agent of change outside of his political home.
Sa’ar says he intends to run for prime minister against Netanyahu as head of a new party on the right.
