The NRA's bankruptcy was dismissed on Tuesday. So, what's next for the nation's largest, most influential gun group? Nothing good. thereload.com/experts-paint-…
Experts say the NRA has little room to file an appeal and their options in bankruptcy court are likely exhausted for now. That means they'll have to fight Attorney General Letitia James (D.) in New York court where the bankruptcy probably hurt their case. thereload.com/experts-paint-…
"Bottom line, the gambit failed miserably, and I think it actually made dissolution more likely," University of Pittsburgh professor and non-profit expert Philip Hackney told @TheReloadSite. thereload.com/experts-paint-…
The fight against James in New York is exactly what they were trying to counteract with the bankruptcy gambit. They argued in bankruptcy court they probably couldn't win that case. So, prospects are dim there. thereload.com/experts-paint-…
The bankruptcy actually made things worse for the NRA in New York. All of the details about malfeasance, including the lack of any punishment for Wayne LaPierre or his assistant after they admitted to taking "excess benefits" from the NRA, will likely be used in James's case.
Additionally, the judge's ruling this bankruptcy was in bad-faith means the NRA is now open to potentially millions of dollars in suits for legal fees from the other parties to the case. That's on top of the millions it paid outside counsel Bill Brewer and its other lawyers.
NRA board member told @TheReloadSite he and the other dissenting board members who were involved in the failed bankruptcy will file suit against the group to recover $300,000 worth of costs. thereload.com/experts-paint-…
The NRA projected a great deal of confidence in this bankruptcy plan. Outside counsel Bill Brewer, who helped mastermind it, told me in January he was confident in it. That it was even a pretty clever idea. But experts always thought it was an odd move akin to a "Hail Mary."
The NRA and Brewer remain defiant, though. Claiming the dismissal of their case "empowers" the NRA membership and pledging to fight it out with James in New York court.
“The NRA will continue to defend the interests of the Association in New York,” Brewer said. “Our client has faith in its leadership, and its demonstrated commitment to good governance.”
Dissolution is still a heavy lift for James, especially given the added specter of a politician using her office to shut down a political rival. But the removal of officers like Wayne LaPierre is more likely. The NRA may soon face a decision between surviving or standing by him.

Americans are almost perfectly split on Biden's handling of guns. 48 approve, 49 disapprove. That will make his task of convincing Congress to pass his gun agenda even harder. thereload.com/poll-bidens-pe…
Biden has aggressively pursued new gun-control measures--including bans--ever since he began running for president. But it's his least popular issue outside of immigration. It will be interesting to see how Americans react to his unilateral action to restrict some kinds of guns.
None of these are mass shootings as most Americans would understand the term. Two of them don't even fit under the expanded activist-created definition most major media use these days. Sensationalizing shootings to try and make everything akin to Columbine just misleads people.
There's no official standard for what a "mass shooting" actually is but the term was clearly derived from the FBI definition of "mass murder" which involves the killing of 4 or more people in a short period of time. That was what the media generally went by until recently.
In 2015, a group of gun-control activists on Reddit decided they wanted to expand the definition to 4 or more injured in a shooting. That drastically increased the count of "mass shootings" from 21 to 355 that year. freebeacon.com/issues/media-p…
Yes, I'm watching that HBO show because of the Philly accents. My stepmom lives in Delco and is named Mair! How can I not watch??
Winslet's accent is pretty good so far. She leans a bit too hard into the oooos for a Delco accent but it's not bad overall. The show seems like a solid gritty murder drama so far. I'm down to watch the whole thing.
The show is called Mare of Easttown. It takes place in a made up town but it's pretty Delco from what I've seen so far.
John Keys became one of the millions of Americans to buy their first gun in March 2020. As an African American, he was part of the fastest-growing demographic to do so. Less than a year later, he’s part of another expanding group: new gun-rights activists. thereload.com/the-show-that-…
“Right at the height of all of the craziness is when I bought my first pistol and rifle,” Keys told The Reload. “It was the last gun show before they shut everything down.” thereload.com/the-show-that-…
Now Keys is co-hosting a show designed to reach out to other black Americans & show them what gun ownership can look like. Guns Out TV follows Keys & his co-host, Shermichael Singleton, around the US as they get training, review gear, & shoot exotic guns.
