this was not the best run of this song but the only one with #OhMyOllie so I'm posting this one.
I'm sick of this song now so tomorrow I'll learn another. gotta keep moving to make my ADHD happy
as always everyone who plays anything similar is invited to give me advice, but, well this is day 9 😂 I am painfully aware of how often I don't hit the right note and pluck a string that's supposed to be quiet
somehow I was expecting it to take longer before I can produce something that resembles a song
I need to find something that's a little bit more difficult than this while still being playable 🤔
I don't know what factors make a song difficult on the violin lol. I still think in "black keys are hard"
(which tells you more about my childhood piano teacher than anything else)
so far I have not needed to use my pinky finger and I don't like that. I want to use my pinky finger
I know I should be happy but there's still this deep sense of jealously of everyone who can just hold the instrument normally. like I'm somehow automatically less because I can't. exhausting disability feels. I don't want to deal with this right now :(
I keep thinking like what if I just do it anyway, it can't be that hard... no. we've tried. over and over. yesterday I held my hand up like that, just for a second, and my fingers went numb immediately. today I turned the wrist like that just to verify, and it still hurts
why is this so hard? I know my body. I have a solution. the solution WORKS. why
anyway my fingertips are getting really nice and hard, which makes me unreasonably happy

I know for a fact that humans had glue before we had plastic so why is there absolutely no glue that you can buy that isn't plastic???
please stop informing me of the limitations of animal or plant based glues. I am an engineer. I've worked in material science. I am aware of different material properties.
and I know a LOT of use cases where casein glue would be perfectly fine.
they used to build airplanes with that shit. some of them are literally still flying today. it is definitely good enough to make kids' crafts glue or to make stickers sticky.
I can play like 3 notes on a violin and I'm already picky about playing styles lmao.
I have some songs that I could learn but I don't know them so I have to look them up on YouTube and there's one person who has videos for most of them, which is nice and helpful, except
except he does the finger wiggly thing with every note that's longer than a twitch and I hate it so much that I am actually skipping all the songs where I can't find another video because that wiggly noise is so overstimulating 😂😭
it's like when singers do the voice wiggly thing, it's nice! it's great actually! but it's not great if you don't get to enjoy a single clean note because all of them are wiggly
my sheet music reading skills are so bad that it takes me forever to figure out which note goes on which string and I always feel like a preschooler going "okay this is.... A.... what comes then... oh yes, B"
like wow congratulations skye you've almost figured out the alphabet
it makes me laugh so hard every time. I don't know what the fuck my brain is doing in the background but it must be a lot! 😂
I just snapped a few pics really quick because they were angrily making clicking noises at me and flapping their wings like they wanted to fly away!
I don't know how all these parts add up to two pigeons. still only one head.
I'm a bit less cautious now because they can be without parents for a while. just need to be very careful to make sure there's no fallen baby down where the cats can reach when I let them outside.
apparently this is what the little note inside the body of the violin. I don't know what any of this means lmao except that this thing is definitely older than me
this is it.
wow.
I haven't even put strings on yet and I'm already in love. I got her for an unbelievably low price.
it's ancient. apparently one of the broken strings is an actual gut string.
it smells really good too. gonna try to put on strings now
I am very anxious about this procedure but I guess I've got to learn it sooner or later and I can't make it much worse than it already is 😬 one string still holds so unless I fuck it up I won't need to mess with the whatever the english word for the little standing wood piece is
