my latest — The doom-and-gloom hot takes are everywhere;pressrun.media/p/crisis-chaos…
"Journalists overreach while trying to construct the new narrative. In an effort to paint a dire picture of mounting “crises,” several pointed to the *already-fixed* Colonial Pipeline shutdown from last week as proof Biden is staring into the abyss and facing “new” calamities"
“With border crossings now falling, the political press has lost interest in the former Biden “crisis.” Apparently, the pandemic and the migrant surge weren’t real crises because the administration helped deal with them efficiently.”
"Also, “chaos” compared to what? A pathological liar president who was also clearly unstable and spent his final three months in office waging war on free and fair elections in this country? "

when covering the workforce and labor shortage, it would help if the media talked to workers; pressrun.media/p/stop-shaming…
stop reporting business news through eyes of Chamber of Commerce
“The vast majority of the news coverage simply accepts as fact that government benefits might be keeping people from returning back to work. Even though that same coverage rarely includes a single piece of empirical evidence to back up the claim.”

my latest— the media team up w/ GOP; pressrun.media/p/stop-shaming…
media keep repeating GOP claims about benefits keeping workers home, while media can't find a single piece of empirical evidence to back up claim abt 'lazy' workers
“That GOP narrative misses an important story unfolding as America emerges from the pandemic: Long-held assumptions about how we live are being scrambled.”

same host/show that flew its entire program to the border to hype Biden “crisis” in March

not one word since border detentions have plummeted

what happened to the border “crisis”? I guess media packets up their bags
“One month after falsely blaming the Biden administration for creating a crisis at the southern border, the Washington Post remains oddly reserved regarding good news about the plummeting number of migrant youths now held in U.S. detention centers.”

remember in January when DC press was sure the GOP was going to stand up to Trump?

press has gotten this story wrong for five years in a row.

amazing. pressrun.media/p/memo-to-medi…
" the press remains committed to portraying the GOP as a mainstream, center-right entity. That's why it keeps botching the "reckoning" story — reporters assume there is a Republican breaking point with Trump and the politics of hate and revenge he represents. But there never is"
"the Beltway press badly misread the insurrection story and assumed so-called responsible members of the GOP would do the right thing. "

quick thread on media claim that Biden sometimes wearing mask is driving vaccine hesitancy — that he's signaling there's no light at end of tunnel, and vaccine doesn't work

spoiler: it's a really dopey idea; pressrun.media/p/who-cares-if…
The evidence is overwhelming that the people who refuse to get vaccinated are made up largely of white, conservative, Trump supporters who have treated the pandemic as a partisan issue and who refused to wear masks last year.
Taking their cues from Trump who spent much of 2020 mocking people who wore masks as being "politically correct," they lean towards thinking the virus was a hoax.
