Magic hour at the old water treatment plant. π΄πΌββοΈπ΄πΌββοΈπ΄πΌββοΈ
A beach
A city - in spite of itself.
Corner Stanford & King. This space (nee a Shoppers) was once the legendary Industry nightclub. Closed 20 years. A pan-scene & sexuality club. Much went on here. Then βfar outβ geographically.
Earlier. The rise above bluffers. Excellent place to watch a moon rise in mid summer. Strange landscape here. Used to be a dump in places Iβve been told. Undulating. Spooky ground. Good views. Behind the spooky seminary.
The end of Chine Drive in Scarborough. Waterfront trail is a bit choppy here - dumps riders on Kingston Rd. Real forest roller coaster here tho riding down. Like that Ewok planet in the Star Trek.
Very fine night for a long ride out to Chine Drive. π΄πΌββοΈπ΄πΌββοΈππΌ strava.app.link/EzXmB1Mhngb

A friend txts this photo - sunset tonight in riverdale park. β500 people, washrooms locked tightβ. All these people just doing the right safe thing. This entire council needs to be voted out. So many words about open washrooms, and this. Itβs an insult. Vote them all out.
People should get fire axes and open them themselves if their back-yarded councillor is going to go awol on them.
On Sunday in Grange Park the washrooms were open (but in a bad state) but a parks worker came by at 8pm to lock them. Couple 100 still in park. Sun still out. Bladders? Toronto council would prefer you stay in your apt. They have demonstrated this. (Pic about 7pm). 14 months now.
In the @TorontoStar I write about Rail Deck Park. A beautiful dream but it was proposed in Toronto, an extremely cheap town that doesn't like to pay for nice things. That's more of barrier than last week's tribunal decision.
Also, maintenance! you just need to walk around Toronto & see the state of any park. Toronto Parks dept does a very bad job at taking care of the nice things we do have. Look what they've done to Ledbury Park in Alex's thread:
Something as simple as a lawn is hard here - between parks dept trucks driving thru (and police cruisers/SUVs - because police need to drive into parks rather than walk) the ruts and mud are all over.
G20 news! Friend who was kettled by police at Queen & Spadina & part of a class action FINALLY got a settlement: $12,000 (minus legal fees = $9300). Not sure how many were part of class action but you & I are paying a lot out on behalf of police & former chief (now Lib minister).
All the folks/pundits/politicians who gave the G20 abuses a pass because they didn't like the politics of protestors can now meditate on the money they're paying out.
All this $$$ paid out, and barely any police charged, wrists slapped. The system at work.
Smart design people dunking on this - I can't find the tweet but somebody already mentioned that if SUVs and pickups were designed like this, lives would be saved. The function is the function and it's functional. And safer.
And it's cute. The fashion of vehicle design has been aggressive the last while - think of all those angry, beak-like snouts on cars & mad max front grills on trucks - fashion can lead us in bad directions.
