I had to let my mind settle a bit before I sat down to put these thoughts to paper. I'd be remiss if I didn't start out by saying thank you to the #Crew96 ownership for listening to the fans and for the commitment to a productive relationship with the @Nordecke going forward.
Equally I want to say thank you & that I'm grateful for all of my close friends on the @Nordecke board as well as the dozens of other members of my Crew family that helped navigate this problem and come out better in the end. I value you all & look forward to cheering beside you
As some of you may know The Crew is a big part of my social wellbeing as well as a shared passion between my daughter Kenadi and I. The thought of a name change was a very real emotional issue for myself and some of my closest friends.
The action itself angered me, but even more I fealt hurt and betrayed by the club and the leadership of that I had learned to appreciate and trust. That hurt and fear of losing a part of something I had grown to love is what motivated myself and my friends to take action.
The past week was crazy, I lived on Nordecke social media, slack, text and phone calls. It seemed like we were constantly trying to stay two steps ahead and still manage the present. With no idea how and when it would end, I often wondered if I had enough fight in me to endure.
It was the relationships with the supporters, players, and staff that kept the focus clear and helped us prevail. The Nordecke as an organization grew immensely and we had so much support that there was no doubt we had to keep moving forward.
I was blessed to be in the room for the meeting with Dee, @DrPeteEdwards1 , and @JDubsIII and I, along with everyone in the room fealt welcome and like the meeting was a genuine attempt to right a wrong and to mend a relationship. The concessions that were made were sincere.
I know not everyone is happy with the outcome in regards to the crest, & I'd be lying if I said I loved it. But, I do love the fact that the ownership tried. I love the fact that they have committed to a open dialogue and symbiotic relationship with the @Nordecke going forward.
I didn't write this to sell you on the deal, or for personal recognition. I wrote this because the experience had profound meaning to me personally and I wanted to capture those feelings in words to share them with others who care & were on the same journey. #WeAreTheCrew
