THREAD: #Wisconsin CALL TO ACTION: If you believe our schools need more funding for special education (they do — the state currently only provides 29 percent of needed funding) please read on and call or email your legislator…
The Joint Finance Committee has rejected the governor’s budget (which is their right) and is going to submit their own budget to the full Legislature. They are doing that work right now...
Please reach out to your legislators and tell them we need more money for local school districts to cover the costs of special education. The lack of support hurts all kids, not just kids in special education. This is not a partisan issue and they need to hear from us now...
They need to hear from people outside the Capitol building to remind them what is at stake. Ask any teacher, parent or superintendent in either the bluest or reddest parts of this state and they will tell you this is a major problem...
You can find your legislators here: legis.wisconsin.gov if your legislator is on the JFC committee then I am sending you an extra special plea to reach out (see list below). If your legislator supports the governor’s budget, they still need to hear from you ...
JFC members:
Sen. Marklein (R), Co-chair
Rep. Born (R), Co-chair
Sen. Stroebel (R)
Rep. Loudenbeck (R)
Sen. Kooyenga (R)
Rep Katsma (R)
Sen. Felzkowski (R)
Rep. Zimmerman (R)
Sen. Bernier (R) ...
...Rep. J. Rodriguez (R)
Sen. Ballweg (R)
Rep. Kurtz (R)
Sen. Erpenbach (D)
Rep. Goyke (D)
Sen. Johnson (D)
Rep. Neubauer (D)
… it will take just a few minutes. It matters. They won't know we are watching if we don't tell them. Share your personal story if you have one, but it is also enough to just say you care about this. Our stories have never mattered more than they do now...
People can't or won't care about things they don't know about or understand. Let's make it impossible for them not to care. Make them listen.
