Angst with happy ending, endgame #sheith

It took a lot of arguing, a lot of crying, a couple nights sleeping on separate rooms and one round of unsatisfactory angry sex, that lead to another fight and Shiro moving with Keith for a week.
When the anger tired down and they began missing each other, a truce was met.
The truce in question being renting a house in Keith's neighborhood.
Keith baked them a cake both as a welcoming gesture and as an apology to Curtis.
Curtis decided to help "accelerate" Keith's progress so they could finally live the married life they deserved, as he put it.
It made little sense to Shiro since Curtis never really interacted with his now husband or Keith before the Galra invasion, since communication officers and pilots didn't share much space outside the gym and the mess hall.
Plus he was already a senior officer when Shiro
was still barely a graduate and just as he never looked past Adam, Curtis didn't know much about him past Shiro's golden boy reputation or Keith's prodigious hellion one.
Still, he appreciated the effort Curtis was putting in helping Keith out with memories of the Garrison.
Even if... It was a little weird.
"You were so little back then, shorter than most classmates your age" Curtis chuckles. "We'd see you follow Shiro around like a puppy."
"Is that so?" Keith hums.
Curtis nods eagerly, "Oh yes, you were so close, like brothers."
Really weird.
The corner of Keith's lips twitches upwards, he hides it behind his cup of tea. "I see, it was brotherly love."
"That's right!" Curtis says.
Shiro tries not to roll his eyes at his husband, and instead gives Keith a warning look.
He never told Curtis that they already talked
about Keith's original feelings for Shiro before the accident-- that would be a whole huge new mess.
Keith sucks in his cheeks for one second to hold laughter before continuing.
"Extremely platonical, platonically familial, and family friendly."
"Yes pretty much" Curtis cheers.
"You could even call it a..." Keith clears his throat to steady his voice.
Shiro pinches the bridge of his nose.
"... epic bromance."
"Yes! Oh my gosh are you remembering?" Curtis gasps before turning to his husband. "I think it's working!"
"It's not working" Shiro sighs.
Keith puts his cup down, shoulders shaking with amusement.
"It really isn't," he chuckles and winks at Shiro. "But I appreciate your efforts, man."
Shiro shakes his head but smiles. "You're being a little shit."
"I thought that was on brand."
"It is."

Everything is blinding white. There's no sound.
Shiro's been here before- the biggest loss of his life happened in a place just like this.
Here, where everything went wrong.
But then, he wakes up.
He finds himself lying on solid, dirty ground.
This isn't his cozy, well lived quarters in the ATLAS. This isn't even the bedroom of his "home" on Earth.
He's out there in nature, in some place be doesn't know.
Shiro takes a few deep breaths because panic will help him none, tries to remember.
He had a diplomatic mission, long, annoying. Normal. There he saw his friends, the former paladins of voltron, and they all suffered through it together.
