one of the big unspoken issues underlying "kink at pride" discourse seems to be that a lot of people assume "kink" is an objective category, and anyone engaging in a "kink" is therefore horny at all times and basically fucking right in front of you
but this is incredibly weird to me because i immediately think of MOST OF WESTERN MEDIA and how it's built around male gaze and the women have to be sufficiently attractive to straight men and then we dress them in as little as possible
and i am not really clear on how this is different from "kink"?

media depiction of women is quite clearly meant to be sexually appealing to cishet men. that doesn't mean every dude pops an immediate boner upon witnessing catwoman

really hate media that pulls out "you're here for a reason" or whatever, when narratively that is literally untrue. even moreso hate that it always works. feels like just a deeply manipulative way to say "i want you to do this, therefore do it"
see also "you can't escape your destiny" where "destiny" is something the speaker is entirely pulling out of their ass because it sounds good to them

no one ever pushes back against these, either, and it is deeply unsettling

kind of devastated by the genres of replies here
- "bitcoin, it's an investment for my children"
- "bitcoin because it only goes up"
- "cash because i need groceries"
this paints a stark picture of speculators taking advantage of people who are borderline desperate and not otherwise familiar with investing ("if graph goes up and to the right, it always will")

long suspected this of course but you don't overtly see it deep in bitcoin twitter
not dunking on anyone here btw, since "if graph goes up and to the right, it always will" is also a deeply-held belief of VCs and other incredibly rich people involved in finance who are inexplicably terrible at math
