Coincidently, my two subbing projects, Hankei5m and KokoBoku are from the same producer, Natsuko Kasuta.
She said this is unique situation to have two of hers in the same season cuz KokoBoku has been delayed from last year.
- Said, Hankei5m set up is mostly her idea. Tabloid/weekly magazine setting, Niori, women's theme, Yoshine's character writing from one side and slowly learn from Nagasaku's character's willing to study from all perspectives.
(Also said, NHK's Friday 10pm slot is for women.)
- KokoBoku case: her idea is the university setting but Kanzaki, PR stuffs and "words without meaning"idea are Aya Watanabe's setup. Tori was offered the role even without finishing the script.
- She said she offered Tori cuz of Yutori and Birds Without Names. (T/N: I was surprised it was that early.)
- No mention on Yoshine and Nagasaku's casting choices.
- Said the original title of kokoboku is just "Ima koko ni aru kiki". But Aya Watanabe made it long cuz she thinks if they sends the message in formal straightforward way, it won't reach to ppl who don't listen.
- In the end, she said these two works are related in the theme that they want to say "Please think about things with your own thinking."
- Prod. Katsuta also said she wonders how many ppl are Kanzaki-like (who don't have their own thinking) and how many ppl who can really laugh at him.

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
Btw, Kokoboku screenwriter Aya Watanabe tweeted this evening that she wrote ep4,5 in March,2020.
And, that she's thankful this is being broadcasted.
And that it's not that she can forcast the events. I like her tweet lol.
Some facts
this week's episode is scientifically real. It is supervised by Professor Hirotaka Kanuka from the Department of Tropical Medicine, Jikei University School of Medicine.
- Dir said he, Sayuri Yoshinaga and Toei president had a discussion for casting since the movie is sth like symbolizing the baton pass of "hope for the future" to the next gen. So, they wanted to cast formidable young actors.
- There, Yoshinaga-san suggested both Tori and Suzu first saying she's a fan of Tori and has been watching Suzu since she's a kid. Everyone agreed her suggestion but they thought it's impossible both will be free for 2020 summer. (afaik elderly actors only work in warm season.)
- Dir. said they called them preparing not getting both but it's a miracle both are free of the slot. So, this happened. :)
Director Narushima Izuru's newspaper interview is all about Matsuzaka Tori. 😅
About this scene, and he said he cried for the first time watching his own movie.
- this scene is not in the book
- Director and film's advisory doctor just planned to bathe the little girl with seawater like the book, not swim out to the ocean.
- Producer, the late Toei president, suggested in the memory of he and his little sister. Becuz they used to swim like that when they where young.
- Tori was informed about the scene on the day of costume fitting. Director asked him if he can swim, he answered he learnt in elementary school. (lol) And that, he never swam in the ocean before.
Tori Matsuzaka and Suzu Hirose
- Inochi no Teishaba/ A Morning of Farewell
You two were able to light up the entire film, even though it was a film that directly confronted taboos in the medical system such as terminal care and euthanasia. How did you create your roles?
Tori: The director specifically advised that Suzu and I should be like the sun, so I took it very seriously. Noro has his own worries, but if I show too much of that, the whole film will give a heavy impression. The director asked us to be as cheerful and clear as possible.
Suzu: That's right. As a nurse, I often wondered how I should deal with patients, but with the director's advice, I tried to play the role with a neutral feeling so that it would not be too heavy.
