The Premier Lacrosse League is one of the most interesting case studies in sports.
They have...
• Players Get Equity
• Social Distribution
• Content x Commerce
• League Owned Teams
Now, they are releasing the best NFT I've seen in professional sports.
Here's why 👇👇👇
1) Most people are tired of hearing about NFTs by now.
They know how the story goes. A company or individual with a large audience creates a digital token with the hopes of selling it to their fans.
The only problem?
Most NFTs are just photos or videos on a blockchain.
2) The real value of NFTs is going to lie at the intersection of:
• Highly engaged audiences
• Great creative
• Special access
• Desirable utility
If NFT issuers can put these four criteria together, they have the chance to create an incredibly valuable product.
3) The new NFT being issued by the Premier Lacrosse League is the most exciting one I've seen in sports.
The PLL created only 1 "Owner's Pass" for each of the 8 teams in the league.
The goal is to sell each Owner's Pass to the biggest superfan of the various teams.
4) The PLL Owner's Pass doesn't just get you a digital collectible
The perks essentially make you a team owner:
• Season tickets
• Mid-season call with head coach
• Tickets to awards ceremony
• Call with Co-Founders (Mike & Paul Rabil)
• Championship ring if your team wins
5) This is a great example of what NFTs will eventually look like in the sports industry.
A new way for leagues and teams to engage with their most passionate fans.
The secret isn't in the technology but rather the unique experiences, special access, and ultimate utility.
6) My guess?
Don't be surprised if the PLL's creative combination of increased access & desirable utility becomes the blueprint for NFT's in pro sports.
