I think expecting people to instantly give up on 15 months of fundamental changes to their behavior and lives, and pathologizing and mocking any hesitancy, is unrealistic, cruel and frankly bizarre
"look at these freaks still being cautious while people are literally still dying of a once in a century pandemic"
less than half the adult population is vaccinated! what am i missing
also, crucially, and unlike refusing to get vaccinated/take precautions earlier in the pandemic *wearing masks and staying home on saturday nights isnt hurting anyone*

an EPA lawyer just called me to ask me to call off a FOIA request i made in 2017 (!) that was never honored. it was about a smear campaign the EPA conducted about an AP reporter during Hurricane Harvey. they may be "drowning" in the backlog but im not calling it off
they may be inundated by a reckless administration's stonewalling but the solution is not to cajole people into dropping their FOIA requests
i wanted all internal correspondence about this scandal. and i still do!! the trump era doesn't just get to be memory holed google.com/amp/s/www.wash…

i will stop tweeting about this eventually but i think every journalist should read svetlana alexievich every single one. im reading War's Unwomanly Face now, her interviews with Soviet female veterans of WWII and it is just? extraordinary... so is Voices of Chernobyl...
(i am interspersing my reading the translation with a bit of the original russian but i read very slowly in russian)
anyway it will change the way you look at the work of journalism and the way you see the world. it will. at least it did for me
