#EUCO leaders acted forcefully in response to the outrageous actions of the Belarus regime.

We are closing our airspace to planes from Belarus & call on EU airlines not to fly over the country.

Further economic sanctions will be presented soon.

Lukashenka and his regime will face severe consequences.

We will keep pressure on the regime until it respects media freedom and freedom of opinion.

Roman Pratasevich & Sofia Sapega must be released immediately.

Belarus authorities are entirely responsible for their health.
The EU has been consistent in its approach towards Russia, who continues to challenge our interests & values.

The @EU_Commission will present a report at the June #EUCO on the state of our relations with Russia.
We held our first discussion on EU-UK relations since the United Kingdom became a third country.

Good to see that Leaders reiterated unity and support to solving issues based on the provisions of the Withdrawal Agreement, the Trade & Cooperation Agreement and Protocol.
The Protocol is the only solution to ensure peace and stability in Northern Ireland.

It’s our common duty with the UK to do whatever we can to reduce tensions there.

We are exploring practical solutions to help minimise disruption to economic life in NI.

My story made headlines. But there are so many stories of women, most of them far more serious, that go unobserved.

We have to make sure these stories are also told!
In Ankara I reiterated my deep concerns about Turkey withdrawing from the Istanbul Convention. This is a terrible signal.

Yet to be credible we also have to act at home. Several EU countries have still not ratified it. Some are thinking of quitting.

This is not acceptable.

#LSEEurope: Before the end of the month, I expect both the British & European Parliaments to ratify the agreement. In just over 3 weeks, on the 31st of January, the UK will spend its last day as a member state. This will be a tough and emotional day.
But when the sun rises again on February 1st, the EU & the UK will still be the best of friends and partners. The bonds between us will still be unbreakable. We will still contribute to each other’s societies. We will still have a lot to learn from each other.
Truth is: Our partnership cannot and will not be the same as before. And it cannot and will not be as close as before because with every choice comes a consequence. With every decision comes a trade-off.
