Pass your culture to kids, teach them the importance of:

-knowing gotram, nakshatram & rashi
-birth dates/times/place
-reading an almanac/panchangam
-kuladevatha
-maintaining a horoscope/jatakam

Sanatana dharma is not a codified religion. It is what you follow.
Follow it up with teaching them importance of chants of:

-gayatri mantram
-vishnu sahasranamam
-mrityunjaya stotram
-aigiri nandini
-rudrashtakam

Weather they 'rant' or 'chant' the choice is yours.
Bring divinity in your day to day life:

-don't swear words use 'rama rama' or hare krishna'
-switch to religious channels on tv atleast for 30 mins
-pass hindu gifts to your friends [you get what you pay]
-proudly show a bhagwa flat outside your home
-keep some vrat every month
Devout Hindu, try to follow all 16 samskaras.

But SHRADDHA is not negotiable:

-every Hindu must pay obeisance to ancestors/pitru
-per scriptures this is more important than festivals
-this has to be done atleast 2 times every year
-the once done in gaya is not sufficient
Don't be shy of displaying Hindu marks on our body. Apart from being fashionable they project confidence in our scientific culture.

Key reason for discontinuance of our practices is the promotion of fake glamour by faulty ideas & syncretism.

Be proud of our ancient culture.
Our ancestors offered community support using ideas of:

-respecting muthaidulu [married]
-pasupu kumkuma functions
-giving tamboolam
-family pandit for networking
-bhajans

Our rituals are comforting and addressed loneliness
Show your modernity by practicing ancient methods:

-celebrate traditional janmdivas
-light lamps not blow them
-support indian cuisines
-visit temples once a month with family
-revel in ethnic attire
-learn your mother tongue

Your identity is preserved in your mother's tongue
Every hindu home must:

-nurture a few tulasi plant
-grow a few flowers for alankarams
-do naivaidyam everyday
-light traditional lamps in the altar
-do family aarti together

Show respect for divinity by placing the altar in the best place of the home not a dingy corner.
For big occasions:

-try gowdanam esp to temples
-invite archakas/pandits to perform puja at home
-give honorarium to brahmin couples
-buy traditional silverware
-gang up friendly families for a pilgrimage
To elders of the house:

-maintain a family tree to pass on further
-never go/send anyone empty handed
-document recipes
-extend help in marriages/home building
-realize the power of chanting
