1⃣ Keep it simple 🔁

Systems are hard, so don't get paralysed by complexity.

Aim for a ‘good enough’ view of the drivers and outputs. Focus on what's really important.

2⃣ Make the case for change 📄

There isn't one perfect argument for changing #ResearchCulture, so be a pragmatist, not a purist.

Build a suite of evidence and arguments and deploy them as needed.

3⃣ Make it about people 🧑🏻‍🦳🧔🏾🧑🏼‍🦰🧑🏽 🧑🏿‍🦱

Systems are abstract, but what really matters is people’s lives.

So put their lived experience at the centre.

4⃣ Listen, learn and iterate 👂🏻

Setting the agenda and shifting debate from diagnosis to action means winning hearts and minds.

So listening is essential to find approaches that resonate with a coalition of the willing.

5⃣ Pick your timing 📅

Change is hard, so be ready for and make the most of ‘critical junctures’.

6⃣ Be patient and celebrate the small wins🥳

Systems change doesn't happen overnight, so find ways to renew your sense of direction and drive.

The small wins add up. Celebrate them hard.
