Both the MAGA and the equity agendas are deconstructed by the existence of a non-white immigrant group that outperforms all native groups, including whites, on certain key metrics.

Both of those tweets are trolls working out the inconsistent inner logic of two ways of looking at something that resists simple partisan framing -- and that calls on us to think harder....

Sorry guys, I'm sure you know MAGA types that are not bigots or xenophobes and only care about the legality of immigration.

But a movement that seeks to end birthright citizenship is taking a big step beyond that.

I am not saying ending ending birthright citizenship or reducing legal immigration is necessarily bigoted or xenophobic. But it is necessarily more than focusing on legality of immigration, and it is part of the MAGA agenda.

Don't know the mechanics on how this could be done, but I'm sure someone could work them out. Obvious forms of gaming the system are policed regularly throughout modern institutions.

They did a study where they sent emails to professors seeking meetings using various racially coded names.

The names that were likely least likely to receive a reply by a wide margin were those from names that sounded Asian.

Did they purposely choose a guy named "Loving" for Loving vs Virginia?

The law allowing Virginia to imprison interracial couples for marrying was invalidated by the Supreme Court in 1967 -- 7 years before I was born in St. Louis.

That this was surprising to me was an indicator of how my racial innocence was preserved by the educational system.

Learning about the scope and persistence of institutional racism does not, however, mean that I should, must, or do agree that objectivity and "worship of the written word" are parts of "white supremacy culture."

I've been saying different versions of this for twenty years:

"We spend our lives trying to figure out what kind of person we are, but others can understand us, in our entirety, at a glance."

Another study to this effect found that showing people one minute of video of politicians and polling people based on their impressions was more predictive of the eventual outcome than any other metric....
