I asked Angela Rayner, given her new roles was she supportive of bringing back the Community Organising Unit. Angela stated how important community organising is, so I will follow this up for a more detailed response.

I asked Angela about the Islamophobia report relating to the Tories, it was heartening to hear Angela not shying away from the work we need to do ourselves, following the LMN report into Islamophobia within our party.

Yasmine Dar raised a question on Palestine and the two state solution & asking if now was the time for the party to talk about sanctions.

Laura Pidcock raised the hurt that the GRT communities felt following a number of racist incidents within the party. & asked for the GS to go along to the next GRT working Group meeting.

I moved a motion for Labour members to directly elect Labour Group leaders in line with Chapter 13, Clause XI of the rulebook. Unfortunately this fell but was supported by the left NEC reps & only the GV5 CLP reps.

I asked for clarification on the Forde Inquiry following a public FOI request which stated the ICO had not engaged or requested information / a delay to the Inquiry. Gemma Bolton also raised questions, so we will get a further update soon.

At the NEC Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic working group on ‘BAME’ structures, the #GV5 pushed for our Black & Asian Minority Ethnic Labour members to have the final say
Members need to feel included & represented, we’ll update on progress of this point ASAP

We requested parity on voting places for CLPs & TUs members to the National Black, Asian Minority Ethnic committee.
We pushed for regular equality data capture, to increase the visibility & self organisation of our Black, Asian Minority Ethnic members.

The plan is to have the inaugural Black, Asian Minority Ethnic conference this year & then every year in or around spring/summer
The Black, Asian Minority Ethnic conference WILL be able to suggest rule changes to the National Conference ✊🏽(similar to the Women’s Conference)
