I got in one really big fight in grade school. I was a Catholic kid living in a pleasant, mostly Jewish neighborhood. One day I saw some Jewish classmates picking on a very small Orthodox boy for wearing his yarmulke. My friends and I stepped in to defend him. Punches flew.
The aftermath, when everyone was cooling their heels in detention, involved us comically confused Christian kids asking the Orthodox boy what the yarmulke was, why he wore it to school, and why the heck would other Jewish kids give him a hard time about it.
We didn't know what was going on that day. We just saw a little guy getting shoved around by a bunch of big guys. We learned a lot that day, and made a new friend who was part of our little outcast crew ever afterward. (Everything feels like forever when you're that age.)
I think of that long-ago incident whenever I see suggestions that Jews should just hide their faith and symbols of their identity if they want to avoid violence. Same goes for everyone else. I said "not on my watch" when I was eight years old, and I still mean it. /end

Why does Marxist thought inspire so much violence? It goes back to that core oppression narrative, the notion that private ownership of capital is exploitation and free societies are SYSTEMICALLY corrupt (or "racist" in the currently fashionable iteration of Marxist theory.)
Of course every collectivist, statist philosophy is inherently violent, because sooner or later they must use force to compel obedience, but Marxism gets to looting, burning, beating, and killing VERY quickly because it sells itself as a revolution against systemic corruption.
We don't reflect enough on how every exercise of state power is an implicit threat to use force. As I believe Walter Williams once put it, even the most benign-sounding law ends with an implied "... or you'll be killed," because that is the final outcome of disobedience.

It's like Tom Tuttle from Tacoma in "Volunteers." We sent over a tough-guy wrestler action star, and in two seconds flat we get back a sniveling toady regurgitating Communist propaganda.

Anybody still think globalist economic and cultural engagement will liberalize China?
You know what will put a stop to this disgusting cowardice from Hollywood? Make it cost more for them to suck up to China than it would cost to speak up for freedom and justice. Kill this Fast and Furious movie dead at the box office and scare the ever-loving hell out of studios.
Nothing ELSE will do it, that's for sure, China has proven that its "sharp power" policies - weaponizing its entire economy to serve the geopolitical interests of the Communist Party, using its financial leverage to compel obedience from "free" world corporations - WORKS.

The Left's infamous softness on crime flows from the core Marxist dynamic of oppressors vs. oppressed. If profit is theft, then thieves who steal from capitalism's unfair winners are just "taking back" what is rightfully theirs. Criminals have no agency.
This is why real-world experiences with crime and policing are always baffling to Democrat politicians and left-wing academics. They cannot accept the notion that criminals respond rationally to incentives and opportunities - i.e. intensive policing and prosecution reduce crime.
Leftist media tends to vomit out headlines like "Crime Rates Decline Despite Increase in Jail Population" because they cannot accept that policing and prosecution takes career criminals off the street and intimidates would-be lawbreakers by increasing the cost of crime.

Watching Dems chirp in unison that OF COURSE they care about anti-Semitic violence, BUT let's not forget about all the Islamophobia, is a hilarious reminder that they really do act as a hive-mind. They don't have principles, they have focus-grouped copy-pasted press releases.
Note well, American Jewish voters, that Dems only belatedly emitted this pre-written wheeze of moral equivalence because the wave of anti-Semitic violence perpetrated by their preferred constituents grew so huge that their media couldn't hide the story any more.
The variables in the Democrats' Marxist core operating system haven't changed. Jews are still Evil Rich White Guys and Palestinian terrorists are still Oppressed Brown People. Dems only croaked out this "all lives matter" junk when they absolutely had to, not a moment sooner.

Some follow-up to yesterday's thread on Marxism:

It's sad how many people have been programmed to think Marxism and socialism just mean "generous welfare benefits," so anyone who criticizes those ideologies is just a meanie who wants poor people to starve.
That's not thinking, it's regurgitating Marxist cant. Of COURSE totalitarian collectivists want to be given sole credit for "caring about the poor" - or more importantly, to make people think that only be submitting to their toxic ideologies can the unfortunate be cared for.
The idea does not survive a moment of reflection, or a single look at the life in the real world. The unfortunate benefit far more - orders of magnitude more - from the prosperity and technological innovation of capitalism than from the allegedly tender ministrations of Marxists.

The Left loves cancel culture, but it needs to immunize properly credentialed members of the Left and its Journalism Guild from cancellation, so it's working hard to plant the idea that criticism of them is always "bad faith" and should be ignored.
It's a nifty racket. Lefties can dig up ancient comments or actions from decades ago, or fabricate controversy, but as soon as a credentialed lefty is hit with smelly old email, tweet, or Facebook post, suddenly the intentions of the people who uncovered it are the story.
Of course, lefties aren't going to dig up "problematic" material about credentialed lefties, so everything that ever threatens people of the Left with cancellation will come from someone who isn't a leftie, and is therefore acting in "bad faith" by definition.
