Over the weekend, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) signed a resolution naming the 1847 Colt Walker pistol the state’s ‘official handgun.’
Abbott tweeted that the weapon was invented by a Texas Ranger and was the ‘gun of choice’ for U.S. soldiers who fought during the 1840s Mexican-American War.
Abbott also added that he would be taking more action on gun laws ‘real soon.’
This alludes to legislation recently passed through the state’s legislature that would allow people to carry handguns without a license, training, or background check as long as they don't have any felony convictions. Abbott has indicated that he will sign this into law.

Seth Rogen gave his two cents about the current 'cancel culture' discourse during an interview with 'Good Morning Britain' on Tuesday.
Rogen said he doesn’t understand why comedians complain about ‘cancel culture,’ and admitted that controversial jokes in some of his older movies have ‘not aged well.’ 'But I think that’s the nature of comedy,' Rogen added.
'I think conceptually those movies are sound and I think there’s a reason they’ve lasted. Jokes are not things that necessarily are built to last,' Rogen continued.

In a new interview with Men's Health, musician Travis Barker opened up about his struggles with PTSD after surviving a 2008 plane crash that took the lives of 4 others, including 2 of his good friends. Image
The longtime Blink-182 drummer says the experience is also what convinced him to get sober after years of smoking an 'excessive' amount of weed and using prescription drugs.
'If I wasn’t in a crash, I would have probably never quit,' Barker said.
Despite surviving the plane crash, Barker was badly burned in the incident and required 26 surgeries and 11 weeks of hospitalization in its aftermath.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) says he will sign into law legislation that would allow people in the state to carry a handgun without a license, background check, or the training normally required, as long as that person doesn't have felony convictions.
As the Texas Tribune points out, under current Texas law, those wishing to carry a handgun—concealed or open carry—must obtain a license, 'submit fingerprints, complete four to six hours of training, and pass a written exam and a shooting proficiency test.'
The Texas Tribune also reports that permitless carry has been a major legislative priority for the state's gun lobbyists and Second Amendment activists for some time.

Many law enforcement groups, as well as Texas Democrats, have condemned the legislation.

Elliot Page shared a new Instagram post on Monday. In the photo, a shirtless Page enjoying himself poolside is accompanied by the caption, ‘Trans bb’s first swim trunks #transjoy #transisbeautiful.’
Page recently underwent top surgery, a procedure he described as 'life-saving' to Oprah Winfrey in an April 2021 televised interview.
In that same interview, Page said it was little things that have so far given him the most joy since transitioning. 'Getting out of the shower, and the towel’s around your waist, and you’re looking at yourself in the mirror, and you’re just like, 'There I am,'' he told Oprah.

More than 500 staff members of Pres. Biden’s former campaign and the DNC have signed an open letter to Biden, calling on him to take greater action to protect Palestinians' human rights.
‘As you tweeted last month, 'No responsible American president can remain silent when basic human rights are violated.' We could not agree more,’ the letter states. ‘That is why we ask you to unequivocally condemn Israel’s killing of Palestinian civilians.’
The letter then lists out a set of demands for the Israeli government and calls on the White House to ‘take concrete steps to end the occupation in pursuit of justice, peace, and self-determination for Palestinians.’
