I saw someone say that “Karen” is a misogynistic term and that we shouldn’t use it. The truth is; white woman tears, and gatekeeping attitudes have caused a lot of trauma, death, and heartache. White women need to be held accountable for this victim complex we can weaponize. 1/

Keeping trans women down, getting black men arrested and killed, using our voices to harass employees, and people in the service industry, are gross uses of the power white woman tears hold, but there is more subtle things we also need to address. 2/

Body, breastfeeding, parenting, appearance shaming…

Black women feel as though they can’t show up to school to drop their kids off, without looking styled and perfect, or white women will call cps on them.

Did you know CPS takes away more children from black families? 3/

We think we know what is best for raising kids, and shame mothers who have to bottle feed. Mother’s who don’t use attachment raising, mothers who don’t allow their kids to independent sleep.

We slut shame one another, body shame one another, tear one another down. 4/

There is no winning, you are either too fat or too skinny. You are either too slutty or too prude.

We compare ourselves to one another and if we are not the same, we deem them inferior.

We don’t believe and support women when they are sexually assaulted or harassed. 5/

We have a lot of work on who we are, and how we interact with one another, before we can claim we are perfect…

Calling one another out with “Karen” is ok. Accountability is ok. Seeing where we are screwing up, and working to address this is ok.

We need these reality checks. 6/

For the sake of people like Emmett Till, who was lynched for the crime of offending a white lady. The men sitting in prison falsely accused. The trans woman contemplating ending herself because no one will accept her. The girl who has never known unconditionally love… 7/

who just got called a slut, and thereby feels like she is even less of a human worthy of care. The black woman who worked late as a nurse saving a man’s life, and now has to doll herself up to drop her kids off at school. The young black girl who hates her skin. The Latin 8/

American child who has to fear her parents being deported if they are reported to the police for having too many cars in their driveway. The people doing their best everyday, who always have to feel like they are less than.

Until we do better to support everyone, we are Karens.
