Since the pandemic began, I developed an addiction to Tetris and I don’t know how to stop.
It all started when I downloaded the @Tetris_Official app, where there were nightly challenges to win money. I’d win a dollar some nights, and even up to $20 on rare occasions. You could play *free challenge games against people for practice, but you’d have to watch an ad.
Then they slowly introduced new features, where you’d have to play even more ad-sponsored challenges and accrue points - points that could then be used to enter the once *free challenges to win money. I obliged.
Now of course you could pay $9.99 to get rid of ads, but why waste the money when it’s 15 seconds here, 30 seconds there… but holy shit do those seconds add up. And I’m talking horrible ads, like this one for a game where you can “Experience the happiness to be a cashier.”
The app has since gotten rid of the nightly/monthly prize challenges where users can win money. The new hook was the introduction of daily & weekly challenges, or as they call them, “Goals”. So now I’m an active user, who receives no money, who watches ads to complete my goals.
The gradual transitions and methods these developers took to hook me as a user are fucking genius and equally terrible. There are some nights when I go to bed and can still see Tetris blocks and it feels like I’m actively playing the game. This is not normal.
Anyway, I’ve promised myself that I’m deleting the app when I start a new job in two weeks. But until then, I’m gonna continue to get my fix. Please feel free to leave tips for breaking the addiction or share your shitty mobile gaming stories - I could use both!

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
Not sure who this Charlie Kirk wannabe is, but with 220K followers on IG, he posted this today, two days after I had already deleted/corrected this tweet. Would love to know who he is so I can have a word. Been receiving death threats and told to kill myself.
Tried messaging him on IG but didn’t accept my request... coward.
The dude has some rabid followers who all seem to have one thing in common... followers of TPUSA 🤣
I’m in Huntington Beach where white supremacists plan to hold a “White Lives Matter” rally. Anti-hate counter-protesters are here to greet them. Follow thread for updates👇
A crowd of about 100 counter protesters are standing at the entrance to the pier.
My last paid gig was in Dec. Unemployment (which doesn’t come close to covering monthly living expenses) is supposed to transfer every 2 wks, but is only depositing once a month. I’m 2/mo behind on rent. And $1400* is supposed to bring relief? How are the rest of you doing?
Other countries are giving their citizens thousands of dollars a month to survive while our elected officials fight over decreasing $400 to $300 to motivate people to “get back to work.” I’m ready & willing to work, but the gigs aren’t there. What if I had a family to support?
I’m struggling, but I can’t imagine what others w/ families to support must be dealing with. And yet our politicians can’t do a fucking thing. They give tax breaks to billionaires but can’t give pennies in comparison to the people who are responsible for building that wealth.
Landed on an anti-Semitic article about Hollywood written by someone named Diego Vida for the Tehran Times. This person (who I don't think actually exists) appears in earlier articles as an "Italian filmmaker" who worked on Hollywood films & moved to Iran. tehrantimes.com/news/457531/Ho…
This is Diego Vida's LinkedIn... stating he does not have Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram linkedin.com/in/diegovida/
