Today is shahadat anniversary of Senator Malik Farid Ullah Khan Wazir Shaheed (Hilal-e-Imtiaz), an unsung hero of nation.

He was martyred by terrorists on 29 May 2006.

Malik Farid Ullah Khan, aged 51 belonged to Shakai area of South Waziristan & had lent his huge house in Shakai to army to house their offices and run operations as well as developmental activities in what had hitherto been an inaccessible area for the government.

GOC Wana and other army officials would regularly hold tribal jirgas in Waziristan. Terrorists had long been holding the Chief of Ahmadzai Wazirs Malik Farid Ullah Khan responsible for the losses they had suffered at the hands of security forces.

He had also been instrumental in arranging for the surrender of 44 terrorists of his tribe to the government from Shakai Valley who were later allowed to go free on Malik Faridullah’s own guarantee.

He had played a pivotal role in opening up the Shakai Valley, the last bastion of foreign terrorists, to the Pakistan Army to break the back of foreign terrorists.

Malik Farid Ullah Khan was martyred by terrorists when he was travelling from South Waziristan to Tank in his vehicle near Jandola, FR Tank on 29 May 2005.

He was a close friend of Prime Minister Imran Khan & also hosted Imran Khan is his hometown Shakai, South Waziristan alongwith Jemima Khan @Jemima_Khan.

In August 2005, Former President General (R) Pervez Musharraf conferred Hilal-e-Imtiaz on Malik Faridullah Khan Wazir in recognition of his meritorious services to the nation & for the cause of peace in South Waziristan.

To perpetuate his memories, then Corps Commander Peshawar also named many developmental projects in South Waziristan on Malik Farid Ullah Khan's name. The road constructed by Pakistan Army Engineers leading from Shakai to Inzar and Wana was named as Faridullah Shaheed Road...

...whereas the Army Public School was renamed as Faridullah Khan Shaheed Army Public School. It was also decided to hold Annual Mela in his name on every Pakistan's Independence Day in Shakai, South Waziristan.
