There is nothing, NOTHING, more important than defending the country from threats foreign or domestic. That includes insurrection, armed rebellion, and attempted coups through election theft. If this nation is not protected first and foremost, then none of other niceties matter.

They won't even exist. Therefore, it's inexcusable that cowardly republicans and at least one democrat escaped DC to avoid doing just that, dodging and evading their sworn oaths in the process.

So consider this: We require our servicemen and women to miss anniversaries, birthdays and even the birth of their children when they are serving in defense of the nation.

Therefore, why is it more important for the congressmen and women who have the power to declare war, and responsibility to protect the general welfare to get home for the Memorial Day parade and cookout? Who and what are they honoring?

Shouldn't the same level of commitment be expected - demanded - of congress? So why is such dereliction tolerated?

Memorial Day is the Day to commemorate and honor the the lives and sacrifices of those who served in our military.

So there's something absolutely repulsive about congress abdicating their responsibilities on Memorial Day weekend, and failing to take even minimal steps to defend the nation during a time of existential threat.

We don't have a congress at present. We have one group of adults trying to govern, and a second group of unruly, violent, destructive, narcissistic, greedy, power hungry children who are in the way.
