Ending qualified immunity is a must. It should be non-negotiable. What is as equally important is the establishment of a nationally unified process to remove the investigation, indictment and prosecution of police criminality from local prosecutors and the police themselves.
Every state should be required to establish an independent entity to perform these investigations and prosecutions. When the state police and state attorneys general are involved the independent entity should perform those investigations or refer them to the DoJ.
Additionally, when police have been accused of criminal acts against other persons including assault, murder, or other civil rights violations, unions must be removed from the process so that the criminal process proceeds.
Police unions get to negotiate with employers over hours, pay, and health care benefits. They have no business negotiating over qualified immunity and whether citizens are deprived of their rights when police commit criminal acts.
In that regard, both republicans an police unions are obstructionists.

Unions cannot be permitted to facilitate short circuiting the rights of victims particularly since unions themselves serve no criminal investigative or law enforcement function.
As union contracts and arbitration is between the union and hiring entity, that's an even greater reason to remove the investigations from the local jurisdiction to independent investigative and prosecution agencies.

All republicans who are upset about MTG's comments about Jews need to shut all the way the hell up.

You pretend you haven't heard the antisemitism from your own party since before Charlottesville yet you were silent. MTG is the same as those people who marched with torches.
MTG and the racists and antisemites are taunting the GQP, daring the party to do something about it.

They know that the GQP won't. They know that at their hearts, the GQP supports antisemitism and racism.

So, let's just be real about it.
And the antisemitism that she and the GQP trade in is every bit as reprehensible as the racism that the GOP invokes and promotes against black and brown people all the time. The only reason the GQP us upset is because of the fake religious kinship they have with Israel.

There was no voter fraud. Barr, Wray, and Krebbs, all said it, and they're all republicans. So did every Sec'y State in America. Yet the Heritage Foundation has helped 47 states write, and some pass, almost 400 voter suppression laws based on a lie.
And their accomplices , the GQP, is doing everything possible to obstruct. The republicans are dead wrong about the lie, but they are dead serious about what they're doing.
Meanwhile, democrats are negotiating with themselves to pass just two as if they have all of the time in the world - and they're still at an impasse with themselves. For some, there is no sense of urgency. No crisis of Democracy.

PERSPECTIVE:

For as brave as Liz Cheney has been in standing up against her own party, we can't lose sight of the fact that for the entire previous 4 years, she supported everything about Trump and the GQP.
So while she should be commended for doing the right thing now, she's part of the reason for her own expulsion from leadership. She has hoisted herself on her own petard. Cheney now claims she intends to defend democracy.
But ironically, she was silent through all of the previous threats to democracy through and because of Trump's history of interactions with Putin. The fact is she is an avowed conservative, and she has committed to remain just that. To be clear, she may hate Trump, but is GQP.

Many folks seem to be freaking out because the 266,000 jobs created in April is extremely far below exoectations. One seemingly question is why are expectations so high in the first place? Apparently, some folks simply expect the economy to come roaring back.
That is simply naive and unrealistic. But now to facts.

Prior to the #COVID19 economic collapse, two thirds of all jobs created in the US were created by small businesses.
In addition, many small businesses are, and were, created and run by women, many of whom have been forced out of the employment market because of #COVID19.

130 years ago, the pillars of republican progressivism were:

1) protecting social welfare
2) promoting moral improvement
3) creating economic reform and
4) fostering industrial efficiency
The focus was on emancipated, postbellum America, runaway banks, greed and moral decay, and abuses due to the industrial revolution. However, the emphasis was placed on the power and structures of government versus outcomes for the people.
Today, democratic progressivism is focused on:

1) economic justice
2) social justice
3) humanitarianism

If:

A - Democracy is government rule of, for, and by the people,

and

B - Progressivism is governance, administration, creation and implementation of policy and processes to effect the broadest, most wide-ranging benefit and rights to the greatest number of people,
then

A+B=C

C - Democratic Progressivism is government directed by the people which seeks to provide greatest level of participation in, and benefits to the individuals being served on a forward-going basis.
It's government that maximizes rights and services to the people with the greatest possible efficiency. It's more meritocratic than egalitarian, but it endeavors to ensure minimal standards and benefits to all.
