ALERT: We have a 2nd plea agreement in US Capitol Insurrection investigation
Paul Hodgkins is the man accused of having the Trump flag in the well of the US Senate
2 plea deals out of 460 defendants
Hodgkins will acknowledge using protective goggles in Capitol on Jan 6, walking down to Senate chamber floor and carrying flag .. "knowing he did not have permission to enter.. with intent to obstruct a proceeding... the certification of the electoral college vote"
Hodgkins tells court "I had the goggles on .. when I entered the chamber' .. "to my recollection, i had worn the goggles prior to entering the Senate".. then "after 30 seconds removed them from my face, draped them over my neck"
Hodgkins tell court he had - and wore - latex gloves in a first aid kit. 'I put on rubber gloves to administer first aid" to help someone injured by rubber bullet.
I'll note.. for posterity... the statement of facts read by the court specifies Hodgkins was near a "shirtless" man in face paint on Jan 6.

Here's what's striking if you read through the 460+ US Capitol Insurrection criminal cases ...
So many defendants in US Capitol Insurrection are accused of threatening or invoking the name of Nancy Pelosi
Haunting allegations
(thread)
Charging documents say Oliver Sarko of Ohio has video from Jan 6 saying, "Bring out Pelosi"
Leonard Ridge of Pennsylvania is accused of saying "America First B***h" upon entering Capitol and using Snapchat to say he raided Nancy Pelosi's office
Rep Eric Swalwell (D-CA) filed suit against Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani & Rep Mo Brooks (R-AL) alleging they helped incite insurrection
But there's a hurdle in suing Rep. Brooks ...
Brooks appears to be avoiding the attempt to serve him
(Thread)
A newly filed legal motion by Swalwell alleges "inherent difficulties of attempting service on a sitting Member of Congress" .. and asks the court to order a US Marshal to serve it
Court has just said NO, citing separation of powers
(more)
Rep Swalwell's motion says Trump & Giuliani waived their rights to be served, but Rep Brooks won't
Swalwell's attorney says calls were made to two different Brooks' staffers, but a "promised" return call didn't come
The filing just submitted in the Jan 6 prosecution of Ryan Samsel of Pennsylvania might be the most striking, horrific and brutal accusations I've read so far in *any* of these 460+ cases.
(THREAD)
Ryan Samsel had been accused of knocking over barrier & police officer on Jan 6, knocking her unconscious
Last week, Samsel requested release from DC jail, citing injuries he allegedly suffered in beating there
Check out the response from the Justice Dept to his request ==>
Prosecutors say Samsel has history of violence against women:
Accused of choking & beating his pregnant girlfriend in 2011.. Smashing hot pizza in victim's face, pouring beer over head, throwing her into canal, holding her head under
"DEFENDANT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO ENGAGE IN VIOLENCE THAT DAY"
US Justice Dept asks court to hold Jan 6 defendant Stephen Randolph of Kentucky in jail, pending trial
** Hearing scheduled for June 11. Check out the argument from federal prosecutors (thread) **
===>
Prosecutors allege "Unlike many of those who
engaged in violence... (Randolph} did not stop at one act, but followed up his first assault with a second assault on law enforcement"
They say he first knocked over a barricade and an officer...
Then, more....
Next, feds say Stephen Randolph grabbed an officer by the neck
And they say he played a "leadership role", being among the first to engage in violence on Jan 6
There is a web page to solicit donations for the legal defense of Richard Barnett -- the man accused of putting feet on desk in Nancy Pelosi office suite, stealing mail & leaving vulgar note
It's .... quite something (thread)
For a $100 donation, "Richard will send you an autographed picture of him sitting in Pelosi's office personally addressed to whomever you like", according to the site
"Richard sends his deepest thanks & appreciation for any amount of money.."
The site says:
"His employment was terminated because of public pressure to fire him after his arrest"
BREAKING: Grand jury charges new superseding indictment against OathKeepers in January 6 conspiracy
This indictment adds three Florida men to the case
Joseph Hackett
Jason Dolan
William Isaacs
Conspiracy allegations grow wider. Feds allege some of the defendants added to this case were part of that "military stack" that breached the Capitol and past police on Jan 6
In new indictment, feds allege Joshua James yanked and pulled riot police out of his way and yelled "Get out of my Capitol. This is my f***ing building"
