2/ @MayorJerryDyer @SoniaMDLR I suggest that we attend to homeless peoples' needs: places for rest, food, drink, bathrooms, medical care, storage of belongings. If we do NOT attend to their needs, they will not get vaxxed, in my opinion. Do not place them at Poverello/Rescue Msn.

@Maxwell4Fresno Hi Tyler, Thanks for getting free buses passed in Fresno, CA. Many homeless people are mentally ill, legally entitled to Social Security disability, takes yrs to get, have no funds to get to appts, including for housing. -Michaela cc: @mlfudge @MayorJerryDyer /1

@RebeccaVanderh6 @kevinmnye1 2/ The majority of Fresno, CA's homeless have disabling conditions like mental illness, are legally entitled to Social Security disability and other benefits, and aren't receiving them! Just evil, and incompetent, & expensive to system: -hospitalizations, police, courts, jail.
@RebeccaVanderh6 @kevinmnye1 3/ It is quite common that even if a person has help, they are denied Social Security disability on the first try. They then have to get a Social Security atty to appeal case at the federal level! Cc: @threadreaderapp unroll , please
@RebeccaVanderh6 @kevinmnye1 @threadreaderapp 4/ I compare the application process for Social Security disability to making someone with broken bones from a car crash climb Mt. Everest, then tossing them off the cliff if they got to the top. It's the most vicious system. What a cruel thing to do to people with broken brains.

I spent thru savings, became homeless. Used shelters. Dangerous, abusive, untrained, traumatic. Not helpful to those with health probs. -Michaela

I'm too young for 62 yr old apts (I turn 59 on 3/8) and too healthy (no substance abuse) for transitional housing. I've slept in my car for 2+ yrs. -Michaela

@CarmenGeorge 4/ I've never been so sick, or had the system have to shell out so much money for my healthcare, as in the long wait list for gov studio apt. -Michaela
@CarmenGeorge 5/ I've been hospitalized 2x for food poisoning from transitional homeless shelters for women. The second case of toxins almost caused my liver to fail & I was in the hospital hooked up to IV's. Surgeon said my alarm at whites of my eyes turning yellow and getting care saved me.
@CarmenGeorge 6/ Transitional homeless shelter staff has ridiculed me for wanting to get medical care for yellow eyes. CRMC surgeon told me he was glad that I'd ignored them and yellow eyes were a sign of liver failing from toxins, not processing. Would have died later in week if no care!
