Back in 2015:

The two boys in the back of the Thai police pickup truck were terrified. Dressed in ragged clothes, they had been caught close to a remote people smugglers' camp in southern Thailand where authorities found the remains of 26 people.

Thai forensic teams dug out badly decayed skeletons from shallow graves covered by bamboo and a few of feet of dirt at the abandoned jungle camp in Sadao district, in Songkhla province.

Manas was, sadly, a very rare exception to the rule that generally Thailand's powerful "pooyais" are almost never convicted for the crimes they commit.
A mate living in Thailand messages me: "I bet it’s not him & he turns up living in Chelsea under a different name running an overpriced Thai food spot on Upper Street selling somtam for 17 quid a spice-less plate."

😂👌🏼
