Breaking: Hong Kong police detain democracy activist Chow Hang-tung (@zouxingtong) on Tiananmen anniversary, according to an @AFP reporter on scene
A police source tells me Chow was arrested under section 17A of the Public Order Ordinance -- that's the part that covers publicising unlawful assemblies
Four people identified themselves as plainclothes police officers to Chow outside her office building in the city's Central district and said they were arresting her, according to an @AFP reporter on the scene.
She was placed in a black saloon car and driven away.
Here is exclusive @AFP footage of Chow being arrested
Chow is also a barrister and a member of Harcourt Chambers.
She is one of the few prominent pro-democracy figures not currently in jail or fled overseas and has taken up a more public role in recent months after her colleagues kept getting arrested

Local artist Kacey Wong has collected hundreds of spent candle stubs from previous vigils and plans to give them to residents on Friday night.
"Each burned candle contains a person's mourning towards those who sacrificed themselves in pursuit of democracy, as well as one's longing for democracy, a mix of complex emotions," Wong told @AFP. "I hope they can continue to shine the way towards freedom and democracy."

"Beijing’s appetite for guiding public opinion – covertly, if necessary -- extends beyond its borders and beyond core strategic interests, like Taiwan, Hong Kong and Xinjiang."
“You have a seismic, slow but large continental shift in narratives,” said Timothy Graham, a senior lecturer at Queensland University of Technology who studies social networks. “Steer it just a little bit over time, it can have massive impact.”
