Initially, the GoI through PM care funds procured the 5.6 crores doses of Covishield at the unit cost of
Rs.210/- including taxes (Rs.200 + 5% GST) and 1.0 crores doses of Covaxin at the unit cost of Rs. 309.75/- including taxes (Rs. 295 + 5% GST).
[1/n]
Currently, the govt is procuring the COVID-19 vaccines (10 crores Covishield and 2 crore Covaxin) at the unit cost of Rs. 157.50/- including taxes (Rs.150 + 5% GST).
That means, in the initial purchase, the govt spent an additional Rs. 446.25 crores. Who was the PM caring?
[2/n]
MoHFW, in its PIB Release dated 02 May 2021, stated :
"Govt. of India has so far provided more 16.54 crore vaccine doses to States/UTs Free of Cost."
pib.gov.in/PressReleseDet…
[3/n]
After the initial purchase, govt placed multiple orders in 10-12 million doses and started paying from the exchequer.
It looks like, Modi's initial plan was to inoculate only the healthcare and frontline workers and do a publicity campaign that he did it using PM Care Fund.
[4/n]
That is why the government did not place enough orders on time to procure an adequate quantity of doses. That is why the country is facing a vaccine shortage.
The govt never had the plan to inoculate the entire population. Modi and his team actually believed Covid is over!
[5/n]
They never made a proper vaccine policy and just believed vaccination is not necessary.
This is the same way how he and his foolish advisers demonetised the country and screwed up the economy and jobs.

Thanks to COMMODORE LOKESH BATRA for sharing the RTI details

The real number of Covid deaths in India will never come out - a thread.
According to Gujarati daily Divya Bhaskar, 65,085 more deaths were registered in the state this year from March 1 to May 10 in comparison with the same period last year. (1/-)
Official Covid death numbers of the state are only 4.218 people.
As per the latest estimates, Gujarat's population is 7.1 crores with a density of population of 308/km². According to the National Family Health Survey 2019-20, 95.7% of the urban population and 91.6% of (2/-)
the rural population of the state registered deaths in the family with civil authorities. i.e., 93% of deaths in Gujarat are registered.
Even though the state's public health infrastructure in rural areas is in pathetic condition, it is better in urban areas. (3/-)

“World-famous” where? At the UN? In the US? India? At least, Bharat? No mate, you were just world-famous in your own head, that is all.
Lose that melancholic Bahadur Shah Zafar long white beard and whatever illusions you may have had about how you are being seen around the world
Only he who lived by the camera now seems to stand exposed, to be judged by it. No one needs to say the obvious anymore.
He who lived by the camera is now upstaged by the camera.
Before the cameras, there is now only fire, cremation ground fire.
He grasps for his handy tools perhaps. The apparatus of State broadcasting and digital management services. The Twitter followers. The sheer numbers.
The illusion of the social. The narcotic of narcissism. The myth of the messiah.

This shows the organised fake news peddling of the ruling party of India and its desperation to create communal tension in the state.

1. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare report submitted on November 25 last year clearly predicted a second wave and highlighted shortages of medical oxygen and hospital beds.
The govt slept over that report for 5 long months
newslaundry.com/2021/04/28/mps…
2. The report said: "spikes in Covid cases are still being seen in affected regions and India is yet to reach its peak. India must also be prepared to combat a possible second wave of Corona..." and "inadequate healthcare spending with no focused budget for Covid”
3. It said “The committee is of the view that Districts and States with poor public health sectors need to be identified on priority and provided the required infrastructure for tracing, testing and treatment by providing the required financial aid.”

This government never intended to discharge what millions of us regard as its duties. It simply took the pandemic as an extremely useful tool gifted to it by the gods to further its agenda — to stifle dissent, to topple Opposition state governments, to ‘win’ elections. (1/n)
In any democracy worth the name, just one of these two botch-ups — the demonetization fiasco and the floundering response to Chinese aggression and the ensuing cover-up — would have led to the fall of a government. (2/n)
Even as Modi's ‘brand expansion’ has grown to mind-boggling levels, his promises have crashed and burned. Under this regime, corruption has been rocketed into another dimension, so much so that the word itself becomes inadequate to describe it (3/n)

The government is making states compete with the private sector on a differential pricing basis. The younger rich can go and buy vaccines from the private sector and the poor lose out. (3/n)
