#Lakshadweepam Has been in news. A very good initiative being destoyed by opposition parties. Lakshdweep lies on one of the busiest sea route from Middle East to Far East China Japan. Strategically important along with Andaman and Nicobar Islands loc near Malacca Strait.

#Lakshadweepam The 200-km wide funnel referred to as Nine Degree Channel (named after the latitude) near the island is an important sea lane of communication, linking the Persian Gulf with Far East.

#Lakshadweepam Hongkong has life till 2047 before it goes fully under control of China. The thrieving business and financial companies will migrate out. It is an opportunity for India to lure these companies to these offshore islands.

#Lakshdweepam The island group will receive increased attention because of its proximity to the energy-rich western Indian Ocean. The Indian naval establishment based in Lakshadweep will also co-operate with the French Navy, as agreed by the Logistics Exchange Agreement.

#Lakshadweepam India is very likely to favourably consider the Mauritian proposal to grant India a long-term lease to use the North and South Agaléga Islands as naval and air bases.

#Lakshadweepam There have been unconfirmed reports that malevolent non-State State-sponsored actors such as the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) planned to utilise one or more islands of the Lakshadweep group as a base from which they attacks on mainland India could be launched.

#Lakshadweepam The apparent vulnerability of Maldives, as seen from the rise of radical Islam in that country, coupled with the inclusion of Kerala in the revised “Red Corridor” that maps the wide swathe of Naxal influence, is a further cause of concern.
