A lot of people have wondered about the Basque Country and Catalonia in my map on attachment to regions. Do they not have strong regional identity? The answer is yes, but it is contested. There is large spread in the ratings.

The map appears to show that regions further from the capital are more attached to their region. This graph shows that there indeed is a tendency in that direction, even though it is far from a perfect relationship:
