This 15 tweet thread is about an article by Anish Kapoor, about the Central Vista Project, in the Architecture section of The Guardian. #Hinduphobia

@guardian@anishkapoor_art
I have not seen blatant #Hinduphobia & so much hatred for a person & an ideology–all under the guise of critiquing a urban renewal project in the Architecture section of a newspaper.
2/n
This is the most shocking paragraph in a hate filled rant
The destruction of the parliament buildings represents the taking-over of the Indian psyche by a fascist regime.
3/n
Its ultra-nationalistic vision is of Hindu dominion over all Indians at any price, and Modi as its architect will rule India with his right hand raised in salute, palm open, mimicking the Hindu god Vishnu – among others.
4/n
For a man of Indian origin, most likely raised Hindu, born and raised in my hometown Mumbai, to equate Bhagwan Vishnu’s hand raised in blessing with the Nazi salute shows how much hatred is bubbling inside him. #STOPHinduphobia

The headline is Modi’s bulldozing of parliament shows him as an architect of a Hindu Taliban
It should have been Parliament building instead of Parliament, since it is the Architecture section, but it is the Guardian, so there is narrative building right from the headline.
6/n
Hindu Taliban is an anachronism for anyone who knows anything about Sanatan Dharma. #StopHinduphobia

In the first sentence Anish refers to the existing Parliament Building as Mughal Inspired.
I find that strange because I don’t see anything Mughal in the shape or structure.
Rashtrapati Bhavan, North and South Blocks could be called Mughal inspired.
8/n
I am surprised that Anish has not heard about the 2 64 Yogini Temples, built before the invasions from the North West by the barbarians.
Both have a circular structure similar to the current Parliament building with an open central area.
9/n
To be honest, I really don’t care for the design of the new Parliament building. AT ALL.
I can’t find anything Indian or Indic in it.
Art and aesthetic sense are so personal.
12/n
As an artist, an inspired and acclaimed one that, in an article in the Architecture section, Anish could have ripped apart the design of the new Parliament building. I am sure there is much to be said about that.
I would have supported him on that.
13/n
But then, neither @anishkapoor_art nor the @guardian seemed to have aesthetics in mind.
The goal seems to be run down the PM and the GOI, even in an article in the Architecture section.
And even Sanatan Dharma while they were at it! #Hinduphobia

@guardian@anishkapoor_art also don't realize that new resurgent India does not care for validation from the West anymore:
Western media opinions, Western aesthetics, or deracinated Indians living in the West who have forgotten their civilizational legacy. #STOPHinduphobia
