A lot of people have been reaching out, asking how to protect their mental health during this #victorialockdown. While we know these new measures are necessary and the right way to go, we can take some steps to protect our wellbeing across the coming week: 🧵 1/7 👇 #covid19vic
First, it’s ok to acknowledge this is a tough time. If you need help, reach out to friends or family by phone or online. You can also always contact @beyondblue (1800 512 348) or @LifelineAust (13 11 14) if you need support. Never feel ashamed to ask for help. 🧵 2/7 #COVID19Vic
3/7. Try to establish a routine quickly. Maintaining sense of control is tough when things change. Creating routine across your day & blocking out hours in a simple diary can help us feel more in control. Try to make time to relax & do things that make you happy. #covid19vic
Be cautious about your sources of information. Misinformation and opinion can fuel concern and even anxiety. Turn to reputable sources of information, like @VicGovDH and @VictorianCHO, and then be sure to get time away from the screens too. 4/7. 🧵#covid19vic
🧵 Stay connected with friends and family — but do it online or with those in your household. Book some meals with friends via Zoom or Skype. Talking and sharing is an important part of protecting your mental health. 5/7 #covid19vic
Time outside — but masked up and within the limits of the public health directions — is important too. Fresh air, a change a scenery, and time in nature will all help you manage stress. 6/7 #covid19vic #viclockdown
7/7. Finally, some people during previous lockdowns spoke of the opportunity to spend time with family, get back in the kitchen, read a long-deferred book or get the garden ready for winter crops. These are all good ways to make life a little easier. It’s not easy. #covid19vic
