bounty hunter au with yjh as the bounty hunter and kdj as his target. kdj keeps getting away from everyone else with stolen goods (not even expensive, just top secret info) and he keeps taunting them so they send yjh, best bounty hunter, never failed, after him

yjh keeps just barely losing him and it infuriates him. how is this rat escaping everytime, they were in a hallway with no windows and vents, all doors locked/blocked, and still kdj slips away.

he's going to catch him no matter what.

slowly, yjh gets more obsessive, tracking kdj down, knowing his habits and usual haunts.

kdj notices too and starts leaving yjh little notes and purposefully changing where he goes to make yjh chase him.

'enjoy a drink, maybe itll help you loosen up ;)' says one note left behind in a small bar.

'maybe youll catch me in your dreeams tonight <3' says another in an empty room in an isolated inn, where kdj stayed the night and left behind one of his earrings.

yjh keeps all of these, the notes and the items kdj leaves for him like gifts. the notes become less taunting and more flirting, lipstick stains left on paper besides the ink.

kdj gives him clues abt where he's going next and yjh chases after him

but now he's not doing this to arrest kdj, he just wants to catch him and keep kdj to himself.

he follows the barely there trail of kdj across cities and kingdoms, ignoring everything else. he doesnt listen to commands anymore, doesnt take on other jobs, just chases kdj with singleminded focus.

no one can stop him, but bc hes the best bounty hunter, his org leaves him be

kdj breaks into a secret vault, hidden in a mine deep in a duke's territory. takes confidential records and info, and yjh finds a litte note left in one of the smaller mineshafts that leads to a dead end.

on it is an address and room number.

yjh goes immediately, unable to resist a chance to finally see kdj, keep him from running. this hasnt been abt the bounty for a long time.

when he finds the place kdj is staying (not an inn as yjh expected but an old manor thought to be abandoned) and finds the the room with the number from the note scratched into the door, he opens the door dreading but expecting an empty room.

kdj smiles at him from where he sits on the bed.

"looks like you finally caught up," he says, and beckons yjh closer. he moves without thinking, pushes kdj back onto the bed and traps him between his arms.

"i could turn you in," yjh says, "i could kill you right now."

kdj reaches up and cups yjh's cheek. "but you wont."

"but i wont."

bc something abt kdj is alluring, something he cant keep his eyes off of. no one else has made him feel so alive before.

kdj is a master thief, and almost every noble in three kingdoms wants him dead. but yjh isnt the best bounty hunter for no reason. now he knows what kdj looks like, sounds like, /feels/ like. he can find him again.

"tell me why you've been doing this," yjh demands

"youve finally caught me, and all you want to talk abt is work? how boring." and kdj starts unbuttoning yjh's shirt.

"kim dokja," yjh says as a warning, but lets kdj do as he pleases.

"youll know whats happening soon. let's just enjoy our time together, alright?"

it's clear that it's something big and kdj is trying to distract him, but yjh wants this too, so he doesnt push for answers, just lets himself enjoy having finally caught his prey.

the next morning, kdj has disappeared again after somehow drugging yjh so he didnt wake up until long after dawn. but he also leaves a note with a location on it, telling him to catch him again in two days.

when the day comes, kdj doesnt run. he lets himself get caught as the ppl he worked w escape. guards burst in and surround them. "you caught me," kdj says to yjh, on his knees, "you won."

the guards congradulate yjh and take kdj away. yjh doesnt want this to happen but also. thats his job. this is what he set out to do. then he hears that kdj is sentenced to death. hes shocked, then enraged and tries to fight it. looks into why kdj was stealing info

and finds out all the terrible things being hidden: slave trade, trafficking, assassinating poor citizens and destroying slums and the ppl in them to give land to nobles. yjh is disgusted and throws away his life as a bounty hunter. he breaks kdj out, who was totured

and then kills the people he worked for and all the nobles involved in what he uncovered. it all happens in a matter of days, barely any time for the news to get out. then no one can go after yjh or kdj bc no one can win against yjh.

once kdj recovers, he tells yjh even more and they disappear from the public eye to become legends who keep ppl in power in check, acting as judge jury executioner for those without power, and get the live the rest of their lives together, shaping the world to their will

(ajdks this is kinda a mess of ideas, i just wanted fo write abt yjh chasing kdj and kdj escaping. will write abt their night and upload it to privatter later 👀)
