What’s extraordinary is that it’s Cambridge Analytica’s Nix that points out that in UK we require OPT-IN consent to share people’s data.

What’s even more wild to me is Dido Harding’s role in all this. She makes a passing appearance in this newsletter because of her previous role as chair of Genomics England (after previously heading up NHS Improvement).

But this is what #NHSDataGrab is all about: it’s data gold.

To be clear, we can & must enable researchers to access health data. But there is ZERO excuse for this #NHSDataGrab to be carried at speed, under cover of darkness without *proper informed patient consent*. It’s not simply a matter of safety, but of LAW.

The handy thing about Dido ‘Data Breach’ Harding is how she exemplifies one of the central problems of the #NHSDataGrab: there is absolutely zero guarantees a centralised database can be kept safe.

Look at people who’ve endorsed #NHSDataGrab inc @CMO_England & @uksciencechief. Were they aware of details before approving quotes?? That it’s being done without patient consent?? Can they confirm they approve despite critical qs of safety & legality?
