How Blogging plays a magical role while growing as a developer...

Why you should start a blog today...

A Thread...
It’s almost 1.5 years since I first began blogging!

Who would have thought that the simple decision to begin a blog would have led to so many fantastic outcomes for me.

"A blog is a blank canvas and a virtual home for you to set up however you like."
1) Online Hub

A blog is a place where all the bits and pieces you create and explore in the online and offline world can be housed.

This could include videos, podcasts, articles, links, etc.

You can keep your blogs going year after year.
Blogs can keep your virtual world well organized (and they’re searchable!).

In that way, it’s a great way to keep track of

Your thoughts,
Your creations,
and learning which you did in your tech career.

It’s like a digital filing cabinet!
2) Owner of Your Content

There are many blogging websites where you can publish your thoughts.

The fact is though, this can be building on borrowed land.

There can be a lot of uncertainty.

The safest option is to have a blog to house all your work.
3) Creativity

Blogging allows you to be creative!

One of the things I have always loved about the blogging process.

Additionally, blogging lets you express yourself visually through custom themes, headers, photography, layouts, & designs.

There’s an art to that…& it's fun!
4) Social Skills and Confidence

Blogging can allow certain individuals to practice their skills with communication, conversation, empathy, and so on.

These can then be transferred to the “offline world”

It’s essential that developers can communicate well both online & offline.
5) Developing Thinking

Many bloggers talk about the phenomenon where the process of writing down your thoughts helps to straighten out your thinking, develop your thinking, and help you work out what you think.

Personally, I find this to be very true.
6) Authenticity

Blogs provide a much larger audience for your work.

They also offer an avenue for feedback and self-improvement through commenting.

"Motivation seems to increase when developers are writing for a purpose."
7) You have a voice

When publishing online, developers have the chance to have their voices heard

Developers can write about their passions, concerns, their learning

They can start to feel empowered about making a difference in the world & they can help others understand them.
8) Chance to develop connections

I have found this to be one of the most exciting benefits of blogging.

A sense of understanding and tolerance can develop and developers can learn a lot about the tech world in which they want to grow as next-gen developers.
So think about blogging.

Whether it means you find a blog to read, start to write your blog once a week, once a month, or try it out once in your tech career.

I will say it can amount to a lot of reading when you think to do it, but it’s completely worth it for you and them.
My blogging journey:

Started with 🔗 dev.to/tyaga001

Stats: 37K+ views & 500+ followers

Isn’t amazing for a person who never shares before.

Now you think if I never took the courage to start writing, this never happens.

Never do it for stats, do it for yourself
Then my mentor suggested me to start writing on Hashnode, in the start I was a bit not sure about the difference.

After some time I started on Hashnode & I could say one of the best decisions I ever took last year.

It's a unique platform with lots of stuff.

Over 11K+ views.
But soon I started my blogging platform as I want to own my content so I develop a simple word press blog. So that I can control my content & analytics in a much better way.

Since then I first write content on my blog & then cross-post.

Mistakes I made in my 20s as a Software Developer...

A Thread... Image
It’s OK to make mistakes.
Yes, even when it comes to your career.

Career mistakes in your 20s aren’t the end of the world.

Not that I'm encouraging you to make career mistakes but just know, if you do, you can hopefully bounce back stronger than ever...
Being a young professional can be exciting.

There’s no easy way to condition yourself as a perfect professional, nor is there a shortcut to a perfect career path.

"Learning from your mistakes does not happen automatically—it requires thinking and reflection."

I’ve mentored 350+ developers over the past 4 years.

"Developers are simple in their choices."

I asked them to share their experience with courses, boot camps, degrees, products, Youtube, companies.

A Thread... Image
The modern developer faces hundreds — if not thousands — of choices every day.

-What to read.
-Which course to buy.
-Which language to learn & code.
-Which company to work for.
-Which Youtube videos can make a difference.

And each of those decisions takes a mental toll.
And yet, Creators continue to champion more.

-More choice.
-More products.
-More bang for your buck.
-More features, information, and discounts.

"Creating new products, and services that add value to a developer isn’t a bad idea."

Top Mistakes I made as a JavaScript Developer...

A Thread...
Today, JavaScript is at the core of virtually all modern web applications.

Let me show you some typical mistakes that almost every JS programmer has made during their career.

I've been a JS dev since 2014 & I still make some of these mistakes, especially when coding in a hurry.
▫ Do you remember the difference between «=», «==» and «===»?

You might encounter a problem with code 👇

You'll get “Hello”! Why?

Because you don’t understand the difference between the 3 operators mentioned above.

How to Hire a Good JavaScript Developer...

A Thread...
As with any technology, there’s knowing JavaScript and then there’s really knowing JavaScript.

Let me share a couple of proven & effective techniques and questions for finding true masters of the language.

Note:
These sample questions are intended merely as a guide.
🚨 Alert 🚨

Not every candidate worth hiring will be able to properly answer them all, nor does answering them all guarantee a candidate.

At the end of the day, hiring remains as much of an art as it does a science.

JS, is in the world of tech today has become fundamental.

I have gone through many resumes as a developer in my 11+ year of career -- Some common issues I found...

And How you can improve your resume...

A Thread...
I am constantly asked for advice on how to improve resumes in DMs.

While there is no magic method for creating a great document, there are ground rules for how to improve your resume & increase your chances of being contacted by a recruiter or hiring manager.
▫ Don’t make your resume too long.

Recruiters/Interviewers are busy with their daily coding issues while they need to take the interview as well & reviewing dozens of resumes at any given time.

-They don’t have the time to read all lengthy resumes.

-Two page resume is fine.
