Some might frame this as “domestic terrorist attack by hate fuelled white domestic terrorist kills 4 members of family, injuring & orphaning a 9 year old boy.”

Or at the very least call it a hate crime.

Why do we need to know the faith of the victims? One would think that’s irrelevant to the fact that a white terrorist killed them. The way it’s stated it’s almost presented as a rationale for their murder.

It’s awkward and pathetic that CBC is working so hard to avoid saying white domestic terrorist killed 4 innocent people because he was a hate filled miscreant.

Being Muslim and out walking is irrelevant to the fact a man committed murder with his vehicle.

He targeted a family with a child. He intentionally drove into a family of 5 to murder them.

The colour of their skin or their faith is irrelevant. What’s relevant is his motivation was hate.

This is stochastic terrorism. Guaranteed to occur when stochastic terrorist rhetoric is used as a populist political weapon to gain votes of extremists. We just don’t know where or when.

It means people are being radicalized and pushed to further extremes.

How long is CBC going to downplay the significance of this event?

If you can’t use domestic terrorist for legal reasons, the framing of this event can be “alleged hate crime being investigated as domestic terrorism” as a subheadline.

It’s not that hard to notify the public that terrorism is on the rise. And it’s being committed by white males who have been radicalized. Because no one moderate, mentally balanced or rational would ram a vehicle into a family intentionally.
