A man is facing four counts of 1st-degree murder and one count of attempted murder after he plowed his car into a Muslim family that was waiting by an intersection in London, Canada. Local police are calling the incident a 'premeditated' anti-Muslim hate crime.
'There is evidence that this was a planned, premeditated act, motivated by hate. It is believed that these victims were targeted because they were Muslim,' said Detective Superintendent Paul Waight of the London Police, via CNN.
Waight also said that there was not a 'known previous connection' between the assailant and the family.

The family members killed were a 74-year-old woman, a 46-year-old man, a 44-year-old woman, and a 15-year-old girl.
A 9-year-old boy survived the incident and is in the hospital recovering from non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of all 5 victims were not disclosed.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau later addressed the violence in a statement.
'To the loved ones of those who were terrorized by yesterday's act of hatred, we are here for you. We are also here for the child who remains in hospital - our hearts go out to you, and you will be in our thoughts as you recover,' Trudeau said.
'To the Muslim community in London and to Muslims across the country, know that we stand with you. Islamophobia has no place in any of our communities.'

The Nevada legislature just passed a ban on useless grass in an effort to conserve water amid a 2-decades-long drought that has no sign of ending.
By 2027, water from the Colorado River will no longer be used to irrigate grass that goes unused between streets and sidewalks, and decorative grass outside businesses and housing developments.
The ban doesn’t extend to single-family homes, parks, or golf courses, though residents are incentivized to replace their grass with drought-resistant landscaping.
