Biden-GOP infrastructure talks are dead.…
So, what now?

Democrats will pursue two tracks:

(1) More bipartisan talks through a couple of new groups popping up in the House and Senate.

(2) Initiate a reconciliation vehicle to pass a bill without Republicans, should they choose to cut them out.…
Some details on a couple of new bipartisan groups that are about to get their moment in the sun on infrastructure, with @LACaldwellDC @JulieNBCNews:…
.@BernieSanders, the budget chairman, tells @NBCNews his committee is “working hard on a budget resolution” for reconciliation — the filibuster-proof vehicle for infrastructure. He says it “makes absolute sense” to start moving it as Biden-GOP talks fade.…

RIP conservative scorecards?

Chip Roy has lifetime ratings of 96% from Heritage Action and 95% from American Conservative Union.

He just got smoked for the No. 3 House GOP leadership job by Elise Stefanik, who has lifetime ratings of 48% from Heritage Action and 44% from ACU.
It wasn't long ago that these scorecards instilled fear in House Republicans and were used as barometers of ideological purity in party primaries, leadership jockeying and so on. Today it's all irrelevant. "Conservative principles" mean whatever Donald Trump wants.
The conservative group Club For Growth gives Elise Stefanik a lower lifetime rating (35%) than ... Ilhan Omar (38%). I am not kidding.

Liz Cheney takes her message to Fox News, saying the former president is telling “lies about the election” and that his rhetoric is “dangerous.”
Liz Cheney on Fox News: “There are too many people in the leadership of the Republican Party today who’ve been willing not only to sit by silently but to help enable that, to help embolden those claims. And that’s dangerous for the country.”
Liz Cheney says on Fox News: “We all have an obligation. And I would say Fox News — especially, especially Fox News — has a particular obligation to make sure people know the election wasn’t stolen.”

Rep. Liz Cheney takes to the House floor, saying she notices her colleagues talking about "cancel culture."

"I have some thoughts on that," she says.
LIZ CHENEY: "We face a threat America has never seen before: A former president who provoked a violent attack on this Capitol in an effort to steal the election. He has resumed his aggressive effort to convince Americans the election was stolen...risks inciting further violence."
Liz Cheney on the House floor: "I will not sit back and watch in silence while others lead our party down a path that abandons the rule of law and joins the former president's crusade to undermine our democracy."

New —> 'Do or die': Democrats plan revisions to sweeping voting rights bill in Senate committee

They'll amend House's HR1 by easing deadlines and giving states flexibility to implement.

Rules Cmte markup is tomorrow.

This will be extremely contentious.…
Scoop here >> @ossoff plans to offer an amendment in committee to the "For The People Act" saying states can't ban volunteers from giving voters food or water when waiting in line to vote (with some caveats).

It comes after Georgia outlawed the practice.…
Bunch of details on how Senate Dems are planning to amend HR1/S1 in committee.

Aides are bracing for a days-long fight.

McConnell plans to participate in the markup.

Dems insist they haven't given up on bipartisan support (but don't hold your breath).…

NEW: Joe Biden is proving progressives wrong. And they're loving it.…
“Biden ran center-right in the primary and has governed to the left of Obama.”

A 100-days look w/ @aseitzwald at how the president is exceeding expectations with a movement that opposed his candidacy and has long viewed him skeptically.…

NEW: How Barack Obama’s eight years shaped Joe Biden’s first 100 days

My deep dive into a series of lessons Biden absorbed from the ex-president, from making policy to hiring staff to negotiating with Republicans.

“It’s called learning from the past.”…
Go big on crisis relief. Ignore the deficit hawks. Don’t hold out for bipartisan votes that aren’t coming. Brag about your achievements... and other Obama-era lessons Biden has applied, per more than two dozens Dems who worked in one or both WHs/Congress.…
.@brianefallon on '09 lessons: "Don't trim the price tag of your proposals based on bad advice from Larry Summers types. Don't get bogged down about pay-fors based on bad-faith concerns from phony deficit hawks. Don't forget about judges... as Rahm did."…
