The site was down meaning case workers could not help some clients to make their application. This will cause delays and made people who will need to rely on the digital status in the future anxious about its reliability. 2/8
Some clients have received letters from DWP asking about their status or need to update their UC journal about their status. This was causing panic and distress for some, v.worried their benefits might stop esp. for those who have submitted apps but are waiting decisions 3/8
Client from last week with health issues & is awaiting a paper app in the post so he can apply, has been asked to update his status on UC. Came to drop-in again this week v. worried. He needs to wait for his paper app before he can apply so cannot update his UC. 4/8
Mum of 3 came to the drop-in to undertake her status- she had no idea she also needed to apply for her children. One child was born here and may be eligible for BR citizenship, other two children not eligible. Mum believed all 3 were eligible, so didn’t need to apply.5/8
Client living in UK for 36 years, cannot use a computer and has only a Nokia phone he rarely switches on 👇. Was supported to submit an app- but has no way of accessing the status in the future without computer skills or smart phone. Practically, what will he do? 6/8
Distressed woman who has been waiting more than 1 year for a decision, visibly panicked by the deadline (also needs to update DWP). Resolution Centre was contacted- advised app was ‘under consideration’ and she needs to await a decision 7/8
Client from last week whose status has her incorrect name, then her correct name but wrong picture, now incorrect name again, is still awaiting update. Caseworker called Res Centre again, advised again it will be corrected. Nothing yet- week 6. 8/8
