I too have a story to share about Yashar Ali. I met him at the same 2008 event for prominent Hillary supporters as Susie Tompkins Buell. Shortly after, Susie formed WomenCount with West Coast supporters. 30 East Coast supporters formed The New Agenda.
1/ lamag.com/mag-features/y…
The New Agenda's role was to speak out against sexism. And to promote women into leadership in both parties and in all spheres. We were among the first to speak out against sexism against women of both parties.I wrote back then for Daily Beast and HuffPost as head of the org.
2/
I had met Yashar. We kept in touch and he knew about my orgs work. Our paths crossed more closely when Hillary ran again in 2016. We actually were pretty close. I am gay, and I was one of the first people he came out to. I have an inbox full of gushing messages on FB.

3/
Then we had a falling out. Ironically over the woman who accused Trump in 2016 of sexually assaulting her when she was 13. Yashar kept disparaging her on my page. I asked him to stop - once, twice, three times, then finally blocked him.

4/
Months later, old tweets of mine and old DB stories were cut and pasted together by Yashar to create a false story about me and my org. Although he knew full well who we were and what we did. He took writings I did as president of the org to mischaracterize me and my work.

5/
When I was selected for the POLITICO 50 in 2017 for my work with The Weekly List, he tweeted how I didn't deserve it and recirculated this old tweets and stories - again knowingly out of context. My org wanted more women to run in both parties. That and defend against sexism.

6/
Eventually people called him out on this. If you read the articles I wrote as leader of the org, they are on women's rights and representation - which party is doing more (14 years ago the GOP tried). It was separate as well from my personal viewpoints.

7/
It's almost impossible to fight false narratives which are cleverly crafted in 280 characters or less. So I just moved on.

But I understand why people are fearful of his wrath - he knows how to manipulate - and didn't want to go on record.

8/
Anyway, I wish him only the best at this point. I hope he - and we all - can find peace and happiness. I just needed to get this off my shoulders.

9/9
P.S.: I also remember Kathy Griffin really viciously attacking me here - which I never understood at the time, because I had always defended her when she came under attack for her tweet. Now it makes sense: Yashar was living in her house at the time 🤦🏻‍♀️
Here's a receipt from Facebook messenger in 2016 before he turned on me, and spent the next years constructing a false narrative and constantly attacking me. And I have plenty more.
I did get a lovely DM from Kathy - she's such a class act. The 2018 tweets smearing me sent from her account were indeed sent when Yashar was controlling her social media. She had no idea. Glad to close the loop, and expose the truth.

The Editorial Board of the Boston Globe calls for Trump to be prosecuted. Hear hear! If there isn't accountability, those 4 years will be a dry run. apps.bostonglobe.com/opinion/graphi…
"Saving American democracy for the long run requires a clear condemnation of the Trump presidency. That means making clear that no one is above the law."
This x 1000!

"Norms in a democracy are only as good as our willingness to enforce them."

Story for all you dog lovers: I took...well, dragged...Shep on a walk this afternoon. He needs an extra walk away from his 16 year-old sis, but recently when the leash comes out in the afternoon, he literally tries to blend into the couch.

1/
Anyway, we were walking at the harbor and I saw an older couple - a woman helping her husband who was laboring with a can. The husband had a US Marine vet hat (Shep's kind of guy).

The wife was also carrying an almost full bag of bread crumbs -

2/
presumably meant for the seagulls and ducks and egrets. And I noticed that she looked quite sad. Shep noticed her too; although for a different reason - he spotted the bread crumbs.

So Shep walked over to the vet, and oh man, did his face light up.

Sigh. This is younger than Nestor, no? Oh and illegal!

I'll wait for all the Republicans tweeting their faux outrage at Cuomo to speak out. #TeenGaetz nytimes.com/2021/03/30/us/…
"Investigators are examining whether Mr. Gaetz violated federal sex trafficking laws."

womp womp.
"the examination of Mr. Gaetz, 38, is part of a broader investigation into a political ally of his, Joel Greenberg, who was indicted last summer on an array of charges, including sex trafficking of a child and financially supporting people in exchange for sex."

"Joseph Biggs, one of four Proud Boys organizers charged in one of the Justice Department’s biggest cases stemming from the Capitol siege, said the bureau regularly turned to him for advice on antifa." politico.com/news/2021/03/3…
Strange how many Proud Boys seem to have been cooperating with law enforcement in the past. Tarrio too.
...when "Biggs learned the FBI had obtained images of him inside the Capitol, he reached out to the same agent and made plans to turn himself in."

Dominion Voting Systems filed a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, alleging the network purposefully aired false claims about the the company’s role in the 2020 election to boast ratings. GET THEM!!!

Womp womp. washingtonpost.com/media/2021/03/…
Their so-called hosts should also be sued for false information on this, and all the unnecessary sickness and death they caused with misinformation on the pandemic.
If you want to get rid of Fox News, this is how you do it! Make your calls today to cable providers. They make their money from those subscriptions as they lose advertisers!

I don't understand why our media is exclusively micro-focused on Cuomo, while not seeking out a single victim of Cawthorn and Jackson to speak out. WAPO spoke to 150 former Cuomo staffers - how many did you reach out to for the GOP Congressmen? Zero?
I mean if you live in NY, you know all about Cuomo and his temperament. But now you're delving into his temper, but not doing a single piece of reporting on GOP sexual assault? Yes we want to hear from victims. We want to hear from ALL victims, & ALL should he investigated!
I didn't vote for him because of his temperament-I voted for Nixon. But for crying out loud-we're in the middle of a pandemic-let the man do his job! Let victims be heard and let AG James run an investigation. The level of media bias in not covering Cawthorn & Jackson is insane!
