I stand with @IlhanMN as I stand with anyone under racist attack. But I do not stand with her comments attacking Palestinian resistance as “terrorist” and implicitly praising Israel. She must withdraw these reprehensible anti-Palestinian comments.

I’ve said before that the worst you can do for Palestinians is speak out but then throw them under the bus, as @IlhanMN is doing, when the pressure gets too much. Better to just stay silent in the first place. Resistance is not “terrorism” and Israel is no “democracy”

What’s even more deplorable is that @IlhanMN fundraises off her “support” for Palestinians while demonizing legitimate resistance against a colonial occupier as “terrorism.” We must not accept this or make excuses for it. No. No. No.

What’s evident is that @IlhanMN values being a Nancy Pelosi Democrat above and beyond any principled stance on Palestine, which is why she put out her reprehensible “clarification.” That’s totally her choice and I respect it. But let’s not pretend that’s not what’s going on.

Palestinian rights are not bargaining chips or a menu for other people’s political games. You don’t get to say a “bad thing” about Palestinians today because you said a “good thing” yesterday. If your instinct is to berate Palestinians for not allowing others to trash us, shut up

We would be much stronger if “allies” redirected all the energy they put into telling Palestinians to shut up about @IlhanMN’s terrible comments calling Palestinian resistance “terrorist” and Israel “democratic” into telling Ilhan to retract those comments.

Facts: @Ilhan accused Palestinian resistance of "atrocities" and "crimes against humanity," and when that wasn't deemed anti-Palestinian enough, she called them "terrorist" too, and praised apartheid Israel as "democratic." For this we're all tweeting #IStandWithIlhan? Got it.

Fact that @Ilhan is under racist attack does not excuse or mitigate her unacceptable comments, any more than how the racist attacks on @BarackObama do not mitigate his bad deeds (far worse than @Ilhan of course). We can be anti-racist and oppose bad things politicians say/do.

I stand with @Ilhan against the racist attacks on her. I stand 100% against Ilhan in her attacks on Palestinian resistance that reinforce Israel lobby propaganda, and her reprehensible description of Israel as "democratic."
